According to a statement made by the director of Beijing State-owned cultural asset management center Liu Shaojain, commencing date of Honor of Kings 2021 World Champion Cup grand finale is likely to be August 28. The grand finale would be held at the National Olympic Sports Center which is mostly known for soccer matches and the organizer being Tencent Games VSPN that is well recognized for managing offline venue operations.
Beforehand Tencent’s road map also disclosed that the haul in the Honor of Kings World Champion Cup would rise from ¥32,000,000 yuan renminbi to ¥50,000,000 yuan renminbi which is equivalent to $7.7 million. The prize breakdown between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th to the 12th rank holder is yet to be announced. Much of the information about the grand finale is yet to be announced but is likely to come soon.
Honor of Kings 2021 World Champion Cup format
The twelve teams taking part would be divided into two groups from which the top four teams from each group would be qualified for the playoff level and the rest would face elimination. The group stage where the teams would be divided into two groups will follow a Single Round Robin where each team gets a chance to face all other teams. The playoffs will follow Single Elimination-Bracket in which the team which loses automatically gets eliminated as sourced from Liquipedia.
The Honor of Kings World Champion Cup is only available in the China Bracket but for global participation, Arena of Valor World Cup 2021 has also come up with the prize money of $500,000. Other than World Cup Championship, Honor of King will also hold the Winter Championship Cup whose date of occurrence is yet to come.
