Over the last decade, the increase and innovation in mobile technology provided game developers with a brand new platform to make video games for. There are tons of games that you can now play on your mobile phones, each of which belongs to varying genres such as racing, puzzle, MOBA, platformer, first-person shooter, and the recently popular battle royale. However, we never actually saw a full-fledged tactical shooter released for mobile, not to be confused with hero shooters which do involve tactical gameplay. Things have changed with the release of a brand new game called Area F2. This beginner’s guide contains everything you need to know about Area F2; what this game is about and whether you should play it.
Area F2: Overview
Area F2 is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed by Qookka Games and released for Android and iOS mobile devices. The developers have currently launched a public beta of the game in select countries, following its private beta launch in Brazil. As of now, no official release date of the full game has been revealed. However, the developers have stated that the public beta will be gradually available for more countries.

Close Quarters Battle
The game has been heavily marketed as the First CQB FPS on Mobile. This claim is indeed true as Area F2 is the first of it’s kind for mobile platforms. However, it is to be noted that the game evidently seems to be heavily inspired by the popular PC and console title Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege to an extent that one might call this game a “clone”.
Unlike most first-person shooters with big maps, combat in Area F2 is mostly confined to rooms and corridors inside buildings. Gunfights are mostly close-quarter battles where accuracy and reaction time determines your victory or defeat. The game’s environment can be used to your own advantage. Players can blow the walls or ceilings of a room for a breach and clear approach. Buildings and floors can be scaled with the help of rappelling techniques, something which allows the players to breach rooms through external windows too.
Teams
The game pits players into two teams; Attackers and Defenders, with players switching roles after half-time. As the name suggests, the objective of the attacker is to capture the objective whereas the defender’s role is to defend it. Each character in the game is called an Agent, each with their own special equipment and playstyle, but more on that on our Agent Guide. During the preparation phase for each round, attackers can use their drones to scout out enemy and objective locations whereas the defenders use that time to reinforce their defenses such as walls, doors, and windows.
Progress
Similar to most other games, you earn experience points as you play the game. Capturing objectives and killing enemy teammates earns you the maximum amount of experience points in a match. Earning experience points lets you level up. The more you level up, the more operators and game modes you unlock.
The game features daily challenges which the players can complete to earn in-game currency. These challenges are quite simple, for example, becoming the MVP in a match, etc.
Game Modes and Maps
The game currently features four maps – Cargo Dock, Mexico Mansion, Russian Station, Hot Springs. More maps will be added with future updates.
As for game modes, the game features both ranked competitive as well as normal modes. Players can select one of the four-game modes to play – Bootcamp, Rookie, Casual, Room. Bootcamp is the training map of Area F2 where players, mostly the new ones, learn the basics of the game. There is, of course, no level restrictions on this level. The Rookie model is for players who are below Level 20. It features only one map and one mode. The Casual mode has no level restrictions. All modes and maps are unlocked. The Room mode is for players who want to play custom maps and custom modes. It does not have any level of restriction.
Should you play Area F2?
As mentioned before, the game is currently in Public Beta and is available for a select few countries, viz, Brazil, Indonesia Thailand, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Ukraine, and Mexico, and will gradually be available for more countries. There is no reason not to try out Area F2 as this kind of tactical first-person shooter has never been released for the mobile platforms before.
