The penultimate batch of 12 Icons for the 19/20 season in FIFA Mobile has now been released in the form of SBCs. It contains many familiar faces, with some good cards and some bad cards. All these players have made their mark in the history of football, grab your all-time idols in this limited-time event. We have carefully analyzed each card’s costs and playstyles in order to assist you in getting the most out of them in FIFA Mobile 20.
Note: In each icons review of FIFA Mobile 20, there is an estimation of the price. Do not use this as an accurate representation. It is only an estimate, where the cost of the SBCs is calculated in terms of each SBC costing 1 million coins. The costs for training the players have been taken from the FifaRenderz website.
Hidetoshi Nakata (CAM)
- Skill boost: Free-kick
- Traits: Powerful driven free-kick, Early crosser, Playmaker
- Requirements: 100 Icon Points, 12 History Points
Cost: 3 Major SBCs minimum to get enough of both points, this will cost an average of 2 million coins
Overview
At the lowest overall, we have the Japanese legend, Hidetoshi Nakata. Overall, the stats are very well balanced, however, they are very average. The skill boost is a huge downside, but if you managed to get the previous Icon Maradona, the 2 CAMs here will make a dangerous duo. This is a very reliable CAM here, that can do whatever you need it to do. If you need a good placeholder at CAM, Nakata is the way to go. On the other hand, if you want an advanced attacking midfielder with better stats, you will find a lot of cheaper options on the market.
VSA
This card is very good at scoring goals, almost a second striker in VSA. It is a little on the weak side, with very little physical stats. However, Nakata’s long shots are incredibly powerful and accurate. This is a perfect CAM for VSA.
H2H
Nakata’s balanced stats make it equally as good in H2H, just keep in mind the low physical stats. At higher levels, the pace of the game will be much faster, make sure that you keep upgrading this card. Otherwise, Nakata will feel more of a liability than an ability.
Christian Vieri (ST)
- Skill boost: Target Man
- Traits: Finesse shot, Long shot taker, Power header
- Requirements: 150 Icon Points, 14 Honor Points
Cost: 3 Major SBCs for both types of points, which would cost around 3 million coins
Overview
Like in the last season, Vieri comes again, like a dream for cross-spammers. The Target Man boost, paired with the high heading stats and topped with the power header trait, makes Vieri perfect for the Target Man role. The only issue here is that you will find a ton of better and cheaper Target Man players from the market. Unless you are a long-term fan of Vieri as a player, or you suffer from serious chemistry problems, there is no real point in getting this card.
VSA
The shooting and physical stats make Vieri a lethal finisher in VSA. He will guarantee a decent amount of goals each round. The only downside will be the card’s movement. With the pace and dribbling being quite low, you will find Vieri pretty stiff and slow on the turn. Realistically, the only option with this card is to shoot, let the rest of your cards handle the movement.
H2H
As said before, Vieri is best suited for the Target Man role. Position him upfront and make sure to provide as many passes and crosses for this man. Just keep in mind the card’s slow movement, dribbling is definitely not recommended with this card.
Robert Pires (LM)
- Skill boost: Long Shots
- Traits: Finesse shot
- Requirements: 200 Icon Points, 16 Championship Points
Cost: 4 Major SBCs which would cost an average of about 4 million coins
Overview
Overall, Pires is a very well-rounded LM Icons in FIFA Mobile 20, good attacking stats, and a popular skill boost. Obviously, Pires is heavily overshadowed by the popular LM Sancho, but Pires is good in its own place. This won’t be a very space-intensive card but instead, you will find it as a very tactical playmaker. If this is your kind of playstyle, Pires could be a good addition to your team.
VSA
This card’s smooth movement combined with the powerful shot makes this a very good card for VSA. Although with low strength stats, Pires can still dribble through defenses. Overall, this is a pretty nice card in VSA, if you know how to use it well.
H2H
If you are the kind of player that pushes down the wing with pace, Pires is probably not your ideal choice. Although fast, this card does not fit that playstyle well. You will find him more successful as a wide playmaker. Cutting in your right foot will allow you to hit lethal long-range shots as well. Just remember to avoid physical fights
David Trezeguet (ST)
- Skill boost: Acceleration
- Traits: Tries to beat offside trap, Power header
- Requirements: 250 Icon Points and 18 Legacy Points
Cost: A minimum of 5 Major SBCs are required which should cost a total of around 5 million coins
Overview
Usually, with each Icons set in FIFA Mobile 20, you will find a large collection of strikers, most of which are of little use. This card however can be a very useful asset to your team. The skill boost, although not very popular, is still very good for a striker. The traits will also be helpful for multiple playstyles as well.
VSA
High strength and shooting make Trezeguet a powerful forward in VSA. The agility stats will also help out in movement. Overall, there aren’t many issues with this card in this specific game mode.
H2H
As said previously, the traits will open many playstyles for you. You could use Trezeguet as a striker that gets in behind the defensive line. The Acceleration boost will give the card a better jump start, which can help out in its role well. On the other hand, you could also use Trezeguet as a Target Man, the Power header trait and the high heading stats make Trezeguet almost perfect for that role.
Ronald Koeman (CB)
- Skill boost: Stopper
- Traits: Powerful driven free-kick, Long passer, Long shot taker
- Requirements: 300 Icon Points, 20 History Points
Cost: At least 6 Major SBCs which should cost you around 6 million coins
Overview
This is one very, very unusual card. Although a CB, this card has all stats 80+. It is perfectly well rounded in every aspect. Being one of the top goal-scoring defenders of all time, EA has reflected those stats in his card as well. This is a genuine utility Icons card and you don’t find many as good as this in the whole of FIFA Mobile 20. Koeman definitely stands around the top of the list for one of the best icons this season.
VSA
As a defender, Koeman is a pain to go up against, the Stopper boost only makes the card worse for the opponent. As an attacker, Koeman will also perform very well, reflecting his real-life performances!. It has the well-rounded stats to perform anywhere on the pitch, whether it be in the goal-scoring position, or in the goal-stopping position.
H2H
As said previously, you could play this card virtually anywhere on the pitch and it will fit in. The best possible position is in defense, but it can also play in the defensive midfield where you can utilize the card’s passing stats. You could also play it up-front, to utilize the card’s shooting stats. Overall, this is basically a defensive version of Icon Gullit, having both of them in your squad will make your team ooze versatility
Pep Guardiola (CDM)
- Skill boost: Passing
- Traits: Playmaker
- Requirements: 400 Icon Points, 28 Legacy Points
Cost: Minimum of 8 major SBCs are required which should cost around 8 million coins
Overview
The legendary football manager was once a dangerous defensive midfielder, this is clearly shown by his stats in his Icons card in FIFA Mobile 20. This is one of the more versatile CDMs as it can play either full defensive or as a deep-lying playmaker. Overall, this is a pretty half-decent card to have in your team.
VSA
The low shooting stats will mean that Guardiola will be a little useless to have in attack. In defense though, it is a different story. This is a pretty good player in the defense with some very good defensive stats. Bear in mind the strength though, it isn’t the best at this stage in the game. Also, the skill boost does not support defensive play, it instead boosts passing, which is not very important in VSA. Guardiola plays well, but there is little you can do to improve him in this mode.
H2H
In H2H, you will be able to utilize Guardiola’s passing specialty. He plays best as a deep-lying playmaker. Collect the ball deep in your half and then distribute it forward to your attackers. To get the best out of Guardiola, you would need to play him as he should, otherwise, he will become more of a liability. Also with him sharing the same boost as TOTSSF De jong, you can partner him in your thematic Barca Squads.
Edwin Van Der Sar (GK)
- Skill boost: Diving
- Traits: Long Thrower
- Requirements: 500 Icon Points 30 Career Points
Cost: At least 10 Major SBCs which should cost around 10 million coins
Overview
Stats-wise, this seems to be a very good goalkeeper. Man Utd fans are probably scrambling for this card. All round, it is a pretty ordinary card. At this late stage in the game, you’ll find a ton of goalkeepers that are better. Unless you are a fan of the great Van Der Sar, there isn’t much point in getting him.
VSA
As said previously, this is an ordinary goalkeeper. It saves most easy shots, he will probably let in most difficult shots. There really is nothing special about this card, with his diving boost he can stretch some insane saves at times but other than the fact that it will be good in your team.
H2H
Like in VSA, this is again, an ordinary goalkeeper. The long-thrower trait helps you start quick counter-attacks. But other than that, this is just a basic goalkeeper, he isn’t as good as last season’s TOTW Donnaruma, and he isn’t as bad as this season’s UTOTSSF Oblak.
Hristo Stoichkov (ST)
- Skill boost: Shooting
- Traits: Powerful driven free-kick, Tries to beat offside trap, Selfish
- Requirements: 600 Icon Points, 32 History Points
Cost: At least 12 major SBCs which should cost around 12 million coins
Overview
We’ve seen many Icons strikers this FIFA Mobile season, but this Bulgarian legend is one of the best so far. Although a little slow, Stoichkov packs a punch through his insane shooting. This is only made better through the skill boost. A lot of strikers specialize in shooting abilities but Stoichkov is the standout.
VSA
As said previously, this Stoichkov card has a blistering shot. Shoot from anywhere and you should expect it to go in. This combined with the relatively decent strength stats, makes Stoichkov a beast of a player in VSA. If you are a fan of this man, don’t hesitate to get him in your team.
H2H
As good as he may be in VSA, Stoichkov is not that good in H2H. Yes, he has the powerful shooting, but he lacks the pace to complement that. He has the traits to be one of the best strikers, but there is very little pace to support him. Shooting from a distance is the best option, for this player.
Andrea Pirlo (CM)
- Skill boost: Box-to-box
- Traits: Flair, Long shot taker, Long passer, playmaker
- Requirements: 700 Icon Points, 34 Honor Points
Cost: A minimum of 14 major SBCs are required which should cost around 14 million coins
Overview
This newly-added Italian likes to dominate the midfield with his passing and control over the ball. However, in FIFA Mobile, the metas limit his abilities a lot. Despite his high stats in passing and agility, he is slow and weak, which isn’t a good combination.
VSA
The card’s long shots and shot power are both pretty high, so Pirlo can hit screamers. Just remember to stay on the outside, because he is very weak. The agility may be able to get you through some defenses, but at this stage in the game, the Center backs are really strong, so it is unlikely.
H2H
This is a very tactical card in general and so you would have to use it in a certain way to get the best out of him. Use Pirlo mainly to control the midfield. His passing and agility will allow you to move the ball smoothly around the pitch. This is kind of like a central playmaker. Just remember to keep providing passes to the attack, otherwise, Pirlo will go missing. He must always be in the picture. You can pair Pirlo with the likes of Icon Gattuso and Icon Seedorf to have a glimpse of the Prime Milan squad in your team.
Carles Puyol (CB)
- Skill boost: Marking
- Traits: None
- Requirements: 800 Icon Points, 36 Championship Points
Cost: At least 16 Major SBCs which is about 16 million coins
Overview
The Spanish defensive leader was like a commander in his prime. Organising his teammates in the best way possible. Although a little slow on the pace side, this CB has some huge defensive stats and a pretty nice skill boost.
VSA
His defensive abilities will make him a threatening asset to your backline, but his low pace is easy to get past. Make sure to partner him up with another fast defender. Also, the lack of the power header trait makes Puyol’s heading a little less effective. Despite this, he still has some pretty good heading and jumping stats. He does not have has the greatest stats compared to Icons Koeman but offers decent gameplay.
H2H
Puyol plays best in a back 3, preferably in the middle, where he commands the defense. In the other 2 slots, make sure to put in 2 fast Center backs. Clearly, meta in FIFA Mobile is pace, which Puyol does not have. Other than that, this is a pretty decent defender. Also with Puyol having the same boost as TOTSSF Pique and UCL Lenglet, you can complete your Blaugrana wall and rely on them to have your back always.
Garrincha (RW)
- Skill boost: Attacking
- Traits: Powerful driven free-kick, Flair, Speed dribbler, Playmaker
- Requirements: 900 Icon Points, 38 Career Points
Cost: At least 18 Major SBCs which equates to around 18 million coins
Overview
Definitely one of the better cards of the set, Garrincha is good in almost every aspect. The skill boost is also very popular amongst fans. This would be a definite yes, but, of course, there are better alternatives. Apart from that, this Brazilian winger could be a very good addition to your squad.
VSA
The high shooting stats make this a lethal card in VSA, it will do just about everything it needs and more, the physical stats are low but Garrincha’s long shots are good enough to ensure that you don’t have to go close to the goal. The weird thing is though, Garrincha is right-footed, which doesn’t allow you to cut in. Although he does have a 5* weak foot, it will still feel a little awkward whilst on his left.
H2H
Like in VSA, this card will perform really well in H2H as well. It shares a lot of similarities with the Icon Thierry Henry card from the last set. If you can get both in your squad, you will have a devastating wing. However, just remember that Garrincha is primarily right-footed, so you may have to change your playstyle a little. Additionally, you can choose to play him as an RM and still manage to get the best out of him due to his attributes.
Pele (ST)
- Skill boost: Second Striker
- Traits: Finesse shot, Playmaker
- Requirements: 1150 Icon Points, 44 Honor Points
Cost: A minimum of 23 Major SBCs is required which would cost around 23 million coins
Overview
Weirdly, EA released the highest-rated Icon with a popular skill boost. Anyway, this Pele card is lethal in every aspect. You can run, dribble and shoot however you like. Regarded as one of the best of all time, Pele may as well be one of the best icons in the game right now. Even if for some reason you dislike the gameplay, this man will always be there to look amazing in your team.
VSA
All the attacking stats are high, strength is also half decent and so you will finally be able to run at the opponent’s defense without having to worry about getting pushed off the ball. Absolutely great finesse shots and very agile in dribbling past opponents. Just remember to stay away from the giants. Overall, an obviously good card for VSA, maybe a little expensive but it will definitely be worth it for casual players.
H2H
Like in VSA, this card is also insanely good in H2H. It has everything you need to fit the meta. However, Pele doesn’t exactly have a physical presence, if you could partner him up with a tall and strong striker, and then play Pele as the second striker, you will end up having a lethal attacking partnership.
