Jetpack Joyride 2: Bullet Rush Beginners Guide and Tips

Jetpack Joyride 2: Bullet Rush is recently released as a sequel to the award-winning mobile game Jetpack Joyride. It is a side-scrolling action video game from Halfbrick Studios. Barry returns in this action-packed sequel with new additions such as handheld guns, the goal is to help him fight legions of deadly enemies and stop the mad scientist’s experiments before it’s too late. The game is said to have improved visuals, animations, and mechanics. So today in this Jetpack Joyride 2: Bullet Rush Beginners Guide, we will be diving into some tips and basic tricks to help you out when it comes to playing this game.

Game Mechanics

The game mechanics are simple. The main controls involve tap, hold or release to hover, fly up or descend accordingly. These types of games have been quite popular among casual gamers. At the start, Barry will begin the game using his Machinegun jetpack that fires bullets downward, which helps him fly and collect coins that appear on the different portions of the screen.

Eventually, the game introduces automatic handheld guns that will shoot when an opponent is on the screen. A normal gun will fire bullets continuously in a straight line, while if you activate a power-up you might have a gun that shoots in different directions like the CrossFire gun.

There are power-ups such as the CrossFire gun to help push through some distance, they can be activated by collecting a power-up token that appears at a random place in the game, it can be identified by the shining icon with a question mark on it.

There are some garage items that help on the way. These garage inventions include Big Stomper (A Mechanical Robot) which will crush anything on its way and takes all the damage. These inventions can be unlocked and managed in the garage. They can be activated by collection the token marked with a spanner on it.

The challenges include dodging electric blockers, missiles and bullets and destroying or evading different enemies (melee and ranged). Melee enemies occupy a part of the screen, while ranged enemies use missiles and guns. These missiles and guns can be either targeted (will follow Barry on screen until impact or destroyed) or untargeted (only travels horizontally without deviation until impact or evaded).

Jetpack Joyride 2 Guide

Earlier, Jetpack Joyride was an endless runner, but in this game, they have introduced an endpoint to each level. Scores are calculated based on the survival time and enemies destroyed. Once you reach a particular score shown on the top center, you will alert the boss. Boss levels can be tough and they will have a health bar too when you kill the boss the laboratory level ends and the new lab level opens. Each of these laboratories will have different enemies. These laboratories can be viewed under the story map option available at the bottom left corner of the main screen.

The Level ends when you lose full health or if you finish off the boss. The number of games you can play continuously is affected with the introduction of energy, each and every game will consume energy which will take some time to refill.

Powerups, Garage and Upgrades

Powerups

The Powerups can be unlocked by using the research option. Research can be carried out with the help of Research Tokens which can be obtained as a reward or sometimes rewarded by the Experience Road. When using a research token a chest is obtained, when opened, it will reward with one or more cards of any powerup.

Garage

At the time of writing this guide, there are only 3 different inventions available at the garage, with others marked as “Coming soon”. And currently, the only way to obtain these is to collect XP and level up to obtain them from the Experience Road. These inventions can help get higher scores and finish laboratories faster.

Upgrades

The list of things that can be unlocked and upgraded includes the jetpack itself, all the power-ups, and garage inventions. Jetpack has two upgrades, one is the health and the other is attack. Each of these can be upgraded with Coins which are collected at each attempt. Jetpack can have a core, a core can be installed based on the score with gems.

A powerup can be upgraded when there are enough cards obtained from the chest, to upgrade a powerup you need some coins. Most of these upgrades offer extended duration of that power-up and sometimes it also boosts the percentage of score and coins collected while it’s active.

Garage items can be upgraded at certain player levels. Each upgrade will cost coins. The main improvements include additional duration, coin boost as well as score boost.
