Mobility Meta

Maybe you realized by now that most S-tier Heroes have some form of mobility in their kit – several of them with really low cooldowns and/or reset mechanics. So guess what: Mobility is the name of the game.

Dashing after every spell and attack: New Hero Wanwan

With the newest Hero Wanwan being released on November 26th, Mobility got defined brand new. Due to pretty much-unlimited dashes and invulnerability at her disposal, older Heroes struggle to keep up. Although she has clearly defined weaknesses that make her manageable, the high mobility Heroes that dominate the meta make aiming skillshots incredibly tough.

Therefore we shouldn’t be surprised that Khufra remains among the most dominant tanks, considering he counters most mobility spells. Engage from 2 screens away, potential 5-man stuns and decent sustain, as well as damage, make him a nightmare to deal with.

The rise of Tanks

Crowd Control became one of the most effective tools to deal with, well, most problematic Heroes. Most Tanks provide lots of utility without much gold while being able to soak up a ton of damage for their teammates. While many S-tier mages such as Harith, Chang’e of Lunox lack CC, Tanks can easily balance a teamcomp and make sure their carries get fed without dying themselves. Also, repeated nerfs to the strongest Mages and Marksmen give Tanks more room to breathe and get items to become the bulwark they’re supposed to be.

Additionally, Kaja and Franco remain the only Heroes with access to Surpression, which cannot be purified. Several seconds of hard lockdown without potential pitfalls renders even the utmost fed enemy useless. Meanwhile, people rediscovered the existence of Estes. Acting as a living fountain, he can multiply the effective health of all teammates during teamfights. Unless you get ahead early on, it feels impossible to beat an Estes who knows what he’s doing. So be warned: You’ll see him banned just as often as Esmeralda and Ling.

The Fall of Assassins

Simultaneously, many Assassins keep struggling – Ling, Gusion and Helcurt are exceptions here. Despite a very fragile early game, players still struggle to find an effective strategy against Ling. Once ahead, he becomes close to unstoppable with a late game beyond good and evil. Meanwhile, recent buffs to Helcurt made his burst potential unreal. His ultimate ability provides incredible value throughout the whole game, whether you need to secure objectives, escape or ambush the enemy. And while Gusion remains one of the hardest Heroes in the game, those who master him will find great success; massive mobility and burst paired with fast and healthy farming make him very capable of solo carrying the game.

Moreover talking about other assassins, most of them take too long to come online without the same mobility and outplay potential of Ling. Because CC is all over the place, they have a hard time doing their job. Also, Masha beats nearly anyone at splitpushing.

Disclaimer: Note that Tier Lists are always a highly subjective topic and you might have a different view on the strength of certain Heroes. Also, the efficiency of Heroes can fluctuate depending on Rank. Similarly, our Mobile Legends Tier List for December 2019 doesn’t focus on competitive or 5-man setups, but mainly SoloQ.
