eFootball PES 2020: Atletico Madrid Iconic Moments review

Since the introduction of Iconic Moments players in eFootball PES 2020there were extensive talks on the new players and their performances in-game. There were plenty of comparisons between Iconic Moments Players and Normal Legends. Before this, The whole community was a bit exhausted with all the base and featured players throughout the year. The older players had mostly packed most of the base players during previous seasons. This season was getting dull and uninteresting for them. So, The whole community got excited with the introductions of new Legend packs. In quick succession, gamers started to burn coins and have a try at packing the Iconic Moments. The packs have a lower odds of packing the Iconic Moments players. While some of them have a great collection of Iconic Moment Legends, the rest of them have nothing special to show off, with a fewer count. It all depends on luck, isn’t it? Slowly all the clubs started to release their Iconic Moments Players in quick succession. Atletico Madrid Iconic Moments: Forlan

Atletico Madrid was back in the Champions League after a gap of 11 years in the 2008-09 season. They faced defending league Champions FC Barcelona in the Vicente Calderon on the 1st of March,2009. Diego Forlan was in brilliant form in the league and ended up winning the Golden Boot in that season with 32 goals. Within the first half-hour, FC Barcelona scored two goals, owing to Henry and Messi’s strikes.

Atletico Madrid was in immense pressure in front of their home crowd and needed their superstars to strike back. The supporters did not have to wait for long as Assunaco found Forlan on the edge of the box in the 32nd minute. Forlan’s left-footed shot found the top corner in quick time and Atletico looked back in business. As a result, the visiting team imposed immediate pressure on Barcelona till half-time but did not find the back of the net.

Sergio Aguero scored 10 minutes into the second half. The score became tied at 2-2. Atletico was dominating the match when Gudjhonsen found Henry on the break and the French striker made the score 3-2 for the visiting team.

Atletico looked well out of the game once again, when Barcelona was careless enough to concede a penalty. Diego Forlan converted and Atletico was back on level terms 3-3. The Uruguayan was the epitome of Atletico’s way of never giving up on the game. Aguero scored in the 89th minute to win the game for the Madrid side against the Champions.

Forlan was the face of the Atletico side that season and was instrumental in Atletico’s finish in the 4th play-off spot finish that year. 3 points is always a welcome gift and stealing it away from a classy Barcelona side showed the character of Forlan in making impossible things looks possible.

Player Analysis

Diego Forlan is quite an underrated player in-game and is proficient in his link-up play and can combine with strike-partner or wingers by dropping deep in the field and feeding through passes and long balls. As a result, One-touch Pass, Through Passing and the Weighted Pass, makes him an excellent option for the creation. Finishing looks incredible for the Uruguyan who finds the net owing to the Long-Range Shooting trait and stats.

Forlan dribbles well and has exquisite ball control and can outrun the defenders with his decent pace and acceleration. He can finish with either foot and can convert from the edge of the box. However, his downsides include the inability to head which makes him less favourable as a solo-striker. Since, He likes to drop deep and distribute the play, The amount of runs he makes into the box is quite low.

His long shots can help him to find the net from outside the box. He has the Outside Curler trait which makes his 89 Curl helpful to find top corners. Forlan is a well-balanced striker and he can score and create at the same time. He has 89 stamina which one could use for moderately pressing the defenders.

Formation discussion

Forlan is brilliant in a 2-CF formation. He can fit beside a fast poacher like Aubameyang, Mbappe and Torres who can make quick runs. He shines brilliantly in the role of a creator as a CF in A.Conte’s 3-2-3-2 or C.Valbuena’s 4-2-2-2. Alternatively, you can employ him as a second striker in S.Inzaghi’s 3-3-2-2. Also, one could try Forlan as an AMF in Fernando Santos‘s or Gareth Southgate’s 4-1-2-3.

Fernando Torres

Atletico Madrid Iconic Moments: Torres

Fernando Torres made his team-debut for Atletico Madrid in 2001. He was named the club captain by the age of 19. Atletico faced Barcelona in the La Liga fixture of the 2005-06 season at Camp Nou, Barcelona. The Catalans were in fine form throughout the season and it was a matter of time they would wrap up the league.

On 5th of February, 2006, Barcelona was up against the Madrid outfit without the likes of Ronaldinho or Eto’o. The stage was set for someone to steal the show. The Madrid captain, Torres scored in the 31st minute, latching on a loose ball in the box and found the net. At the stroke of half time, Petrov found Maxi Rodriguez on the run past Puyol and the Argentine made it 2-0 for the visiting team.

With the introduction of Lionel Messi, the balance was shifted for the Catalans as Larrson latched on an Iniesta ball to make it 1-2 for the Catalans. Torres sealed the victory for the away team by getting past the Barcelona defence and found the net past Valdes. Torres was the man who dominated the defence of the European Champions. The Spaniard in the age of 21 proved him as a player meant for the next level as he toyed with the Catalan defence shouldering the armband for the Los Rojiblancos.

Player Analysis

Fernando Torres is an absolute beast in terms of making runs into the box. He has great Offensive Awareness and finds the back of the net almost perfectly owing to his 96 finishing. He has brilliant heading owing to the Heading trait. El Nino can take on the best of defenders in terms of pace and dribbling. He is difficult to stop with his 97 Pace and has excellent ball control.

He can press incessantly with his 89 stamina. The Spaniard has Double Touch, Scotch Move and Step on Skill Control as his skill set. With the help of Acrobatic Finishing, First-time Shot, He can nail overhead kicks into the net. Barring his physical contact, Torres is one of the best strikers in-game. He looks brilliant to start a game and never stop scoring.

Formation discussion

Torres is absolutely fantastic in a 2-CF formation where he can be provided with through passes in Valbuena’s 4-2-2-2 or G.Gasperini’s 3-2-3-2 by a ball-playing CF like Forlan or Firmino. One could also use a Target Man like Zapata or Kluivert alongside him. Additionally, He can play as a solo striker in L.Roman’s or Fernando Santos’s 4-1-2-3 or Y. Grimault’s 4-3-3 where he can make runs for the balls meant for him and finish as a top striker.
