EXP UP Company Limited has announced an open beta test for the turn-based RPG, Cross Gate Mobile, which is set to begin on August 13, 2026, on Android and iOS in select regions. Officially licensed by Square Enix, the title revives the beloved Cross Gate game for modern fans. Following a recent closed beta test, the game has now opened pre-registration for this test.
Get ready for a remastered experience of the beloved MMORPG
So, Cross Gate Mobile is a modern remaster of the classic Cross Gate, a turn-based MMORPG that first launched in 2001. Originally developed by Dwango, it earned a loyal following thanks to its traditional anime-inspired visuals, strategic combat, and Creature System, letting you collect and raise companions that fight alongside you, drawing comparisons to the Pokémon series.
But this mobile version stays faithful to the original while introducing updated visuals and gameplay improvements. Here, you’ll take part in tactical turn-based battles where elemental strengths and weaknesses play an important role, explore a vast fantasy world, uncover ancient legends, and hunt for hidden treasures.
The game also offers both PvE and PvP content, letting you even take part in co-op boss fights, competitive arenas, and tournaments. Outside of combat, you can also mine ores, gather herbs, craft equipment, fish, farm, and cook while building your character. I honestly can’t wait to raise pets, improve their skills, and even use them as mounts to explore the world.
