Diablo Immortal gets a new trailer released at ChinaJoy 2020

Blizzard Entertainment has finally come up with a new trailer for their much-anticipated upcoming title Diablo Immortal. The game’s trailer was uploaded to the game’s Chinese website and confirmed by Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, in the midst of the ongoing ChinaJoy 2020. For those who don’t know, ChinaJoy is a games trade show in the international digital entertainment industry. Previously, Blizzard had inconsistent release dates, which ended up delaying the game countless times. The lack of any sort of communication to their fans, the hype calmed down slowly. But in the news is the latest trailer which gives us a good look at how things are going to be once Diablo Immortal is released. The game is available for pre-registration on Android globally, with iOS pre-registration expected to start soon.

About Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal is an action-based role-playing ‘hack and slash’ genre game for mobile devices. It is another instalment in the Diablo series which will be available as an online multiplayer. Co-developed by Blizzard and NetEase games, the game was announced in late 2018 but since then, lack of information slowed down the hype and thus, many fans forgot about the title.

In the trailer that lasts for about two-and-a-half minutes, it gives a connection with the previous Diablo titles. The trailer has a look at each of the six different character classes; Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, and Crusader. Their abilities differ across character classes. The game expects to stick on with the classic demon slashing experience like the previous titles.

Previous Announcements by the developers

First announced in 2018, Blizzard has had few announcements and little detail about Diablo Immortal, which further delayed. On February 21, 2019, NetEase’s CFO, Yang Zhaoxuan, talks that the game is “pretty much ready” and they still plan for a 2019 release. But that did not happen any soon.

In November 2019, during BlizzCon event, Blizzard posted an update on its official blog, confirming that Immortal was still in development. However, it stated that there was still no specific release date for the game. When asked why, the answer was: “It takes significant time to meet the Blizzard quality level we’re aiming for, and we have a lot of ambitious goals for Diablo Immortal.

However, in early 2020, they said that Diablo will enter the alpha testing later this year. Finally, here they come with a trailer for the game!

Diablo Immortal Release Date

Although there haven’t been any announcements or talks of a potential release date, fans in China can get Diablo Immortal via pre-registering now for both iOS and Android. You can do it via the game’s official website. Use the translate option if you are a non-Chinese user. As for the release date on both devices, we can expect a 2021 release. But since Blizzard is not timely with its game releases, it might get delayed too. However, for android users across the globe, you can see the pre-registration on Google Play. For iOS users, pre-registration is expected to start soon. For now, you can read the App Store preview to get more sneak peek into the game.
