Diablo Immortal to enter external regional testing very soon reports Activision Blizzard

We might be able to try the game very soon, if we are lucky.

For over two decades, Blizzard Entertainment has been providing us with their highly acclaimed Diablo games, one of the most critically acclaimed action RPG hack-and-slash video game franchises in the world. Their first game, Diablo, came out in 1997, followed by sequels named Diablo II and Diablo III releasing in 2000 and 2012, respectively. Each of these games were consequently followed by expansions, which further added new story and gameplay elements to the existing main games in the franchise. Fans have been waiting for a new Diablo title for years, and their prayers were answered with the announcement of Diablo Immortal. Even though the game received huge community backlash due to the fact that it is coming out only for mobile devices, development is still proceeding as per schedule. Diablo Immortal will soon enter external regional testing, however, there is no information on a specific date.

Diablo Immortal external regional testing will start soon

The announcement came as part of a recent earnings call for Activision Blizzard. The conference was focused on Activision Blizzard’s financial standings throughout Q3 2020 (July-September).

The presentations and webcast shared in Activision’s official website contain numerous details about the company’s performance and fan engagement, with regards to some of their most acclaimed titles such as Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and others. One of the slides also included the following statement – “Diablo Immortal, developed for mobile in partnership with Netease, will soon enter external regional testing.” We already know from a previous earnings call that Diablo Immortal would enter the alpha phase in 2020. However, this new statement from Activision COO Daniel Alegre further confirms the news and now we know for sure that we have a chance of playing the game within the next few months.

Conclusion

Diablo Immortal is set to release for Android and iOS devices, as per the official announcement back in 2018. While this ofcourse is good news for all the mobile gamers out there, the game was largely criticised by console and PC fans who were expecting a new Diablo title for their platforms. Regardless, we still do not have any information as to the actual release date for the game. But the fact that Diablo Immortal is entering external regional testing seems to be good enough for us as we will get to see how the game fares and whether it lives up to our expectations.
