Among Us: InnerSloth cancels the sequel due to the game’s popularity

New content coming soon!

InnerSloth recently had announced a sequel for the space mystery game, Among Us. They have now decided to put it on hold and cancel the Among Us sequel as the prequel is already dominating the app market. And the developers are trying their best to put all their efforts into improving the first part.

Future of Among Us

According to the devs, the reason behind making a sequel for the game was, the game’s codebase was outdated and doesn’t support the addition of extra content. The plan was to make a new sequel with an improved codebase for extra content addition and timely updates for bugs. Innersloth further said in a blog post,” However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level.”

We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it. We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!

Recent reports state that the game has 42 million downloads in September. It is also the third most played game on Steam with a price tag of 4.99$. There are almost 10 million users on the steam community. The game has popular content on Youtube as well as Twitch. People have started making tutorials, live gameplays, memes, and cosplays. Among Us boasts 80000 viewers on Twitch and 13 million hours of content.

Among Us sequel cancel

Even though the sequel has been canceled, you’ll still be enjoying Among Us even more as the devs have planned out other improvements including promised fixes for server issues, colorblind support, a system where you can make friends, and a whole brand new stage based on a Henry Stickmin themed location.

Conclusion

With all the sudden popularity and demand of the game, the developers are all set to expand Among Us 1. The reason behind such a huge boost in popularity is, its cheap, doesn’t require a high-end device, and can be played with people around the globe. The game is all about grasping the concept and there’s no skill requirement.
