League of Legends Wild Rift announced: LoL Mobile is coming in 2020

On League of Legends’ 10th anniversary, Riot officially announced the launch of League of Legends mobile. During their stream, they revealed the mobile version as League of Legends Wild Rift that is coming in 2020. The game will also be available for consoles.

There have been rumors over a mobile version of League of Legends for several months now. 4 months ago Steve Archancet already tweeted a picture that hinted at LoL mobile.

Chinese sources have already leaked the mobile version of League of Legends several times, in the form of an actual gameplay and a video of champion selection.

Rod Breslau also stated the expected launch of League of Legends mobile on 16th October; pre-registration links were shortly exposed in Brazil and China before Riot shut them down again. Several screenshots can be found in the link below.

What do we know about League of Legends Wild Rift

From what we know so far, not every champion from Summoner’s Rift will be available for the Wild Rift. Even though you won’t be able to use your PC account, the game will be free2play and champions will be purchasable without spending money. Just like other Mobile MOBAs you will steer your champion using the twin-stick control scheme.

Aside from League of Legends Wild Rift Riot also announced a mobile version of TeamfightTactics (TFT). We can expect it to launch even earlier during the first quarter of 2020. By then we’ll also have more information about LoL mobile’s release.

A bunch of other new projects got teased, including an animated series (Arcane), a shooter (Project A) and a card game (Legends of Runeterra). Check out the official 10th-anniversary stream for the whole story. Check here to know how you can pre-register.
