Rengar, the Pridestalker (Assassin)

He is a ferocious Vastayan trophy hunter who lives for the thrill of tracking down and killing dangerous creatures. Rengar scours the world for the most fearsome beasts he can find, especially seeking any trace of Kha’Zix, the void creature who scratched out his eye. He stalks his prey neither for food nor glory, but for the sheer beauty of the pursuit. Rengar will be released on May 6 at 0:01 UTC.

Kha’Zix, the Voidreaver (Assassin)

wild rift 2.2b update
Kha’Zix, the Voidreaver (Assassin)

Where it struggles to do so, it grows new, more effective ways to counter and kill its prey. Initially a mindless beast, Kha’Zix’s intelligence has developed as much as its form. Champion Adjustments in Wild Rift Patch 2.2b Update

Darius (Nerfed- Minor)

wild rift 2.2b update
Darius has been nerfed in this patch

According to the developers, Darius was too dominant in lane due to his raw stats, resulting his nerf. They have decided to cut out some of his health and health regen to weaken his strong laning power.

Basic Attributes

  • Base health: 650 HP → 610 HP
  • Base health regen: 9 → 7

Darius received two big consecutive buffs in the recent patches and it gave too much power. He can be seen dominating on both high and low elo with his strong duelling power and natural bulk. This buff is going to put him in a more balanced position though this is highly in favour of ranged baron laners like Kennen and even Akali that can chip him to low health more faster, especially since they reduced his health regeneration.

Draven (Nerfed- Minor)

wild rift 2.2b update
Draven has been nerfed in this patch

He was starting to rise into popularity as more players get experience on how to play him properly. Draven is very strong early game and lane dominance is much abused especially in higher elo, resulting his nerf. The developers have decided to weaken his Ability 1 (his main damage tool) a little. This has been done, in order to create more playing room against him. However, this is very minor and will only affect him on levels 1 to 3.

  • (1) Spinning Axe: Damage: 55/60/65/70 → 45/50/55/60

Evelyn (Nerfed- Major)

wild rift 2.2b update
Evelyn has been nerfed in this patch

She has been staying in the S-tier in many champion tier lists. This has caught the attention of the developers, thus deciding to significantly increase the cooldown of her ultimate. This has provided her more caution on when to use her Ultimate.

(Ult) Last Caress: Cooldown: 100/80/60s → 120/95/70s

This change will require Evelyn players to use her ultimate more smartly, especially on the early minutes of the game, where taking picks and saving up her ultimate for the first dragon fight will be huge. However, none of her other elements have been changed, so we are yet to see how it will really effect her in the game.

Galio (Buffed- Minor)

Galio Wild Rift
Galio has been buffed in this patch

He had received a major nerf in the last patch, where the developers have stated that they may have went too far on making him weaker. This has brought about Gallio’s buff in this Wild Rift Patch 2.2b Update. They have also added a bugfix for his Ability 1.

  • Base Stats
    • Health per level: 115 → 125
  • (P) Colossal Smash: Cooldown: 5/4.5/4s → 5/4/3s
  • (1) Winds of War
    • [BUGFIX] Fixed an issue where Galio’s (1) was dealing its initial damage twice
    • % Health Damage per AP ratio: 1.5% → 2%

The buffs on his base health and passive cooldown will definitely help him scale better. Moreover, the % health damage increase on his Ability 1 is nice as well considering how his damage was slightly weaker against tankier targets.

Katarina (Nerfed- Minor)

Katarina Wild Rift
Katrina has been nerfed in this patch update

Many players have been complaining about it on all the platforms and here it is, a Katarina nerf. Katarina is sought out to be a highly popular and contested pick, especially in high elo due to her carrying potential. The developers have decided to weaken her passive and the range of her Ability 3, which is actually very minor. However, we can confidently tell that this nerf is not the end of Katarina, at least yet.

  • (P) Voracity: Damage: 72 to 240 (based on level) → 62 to 230 (based on level)
  • (3) Shunpo: Range: 6.5 → 6

Leona (Buffed- Major)

Wild Rift Patch 2.1b
Leona has been buffed in this patch update

Guess who’s getting two buffs in a row, yes it’s Leona. She is yet to see more popularity, but her buffs will probably help on that. Last time, it was her cooldowns and now it’s her damage and health regeneration. This will surely make her a stronger champion overall. Additionally, Leona is probably one of the strongest level-3 champions in the game right now, since it’s the level where she can apply her passive potentially 3 times. Watch out and expect her to be strong after this patch!

Base Stats: Base health regen: 7.5 → 9

(P) Sunlight: Damage: 25 to 137 → 33 to 145

(3) Zenith Blade: Range: 7 → 7.5

Teemo (Bugfix)

wild rift 2.2b update
A bugfix of Teemo has been implemented
  • (3) Guerrilla Warfare: [BUGFIX] Camouflage duration per rank-up now correctly displays as 3/3.5/4/4.5s instead of 3/4/5/6s (duration unchanged, tooltip fix only).

Ziggs (Nerfed- Minor)

wild rift 2.2b update
Ziggs has been nerfed in this patch update

Though it may seem small, we can expect the nerf to give him a significantly weaker early game, especially in level 1. However, he is still completely viable considering none of his other abilities and damage were changed.

  • 1) Bouncing Bomb: Cooldown: 6/5.5/5/4.5s → 7.5/6.5/5.5/4.5s

Duo Carry Champion Changes in Wild Rift Patch 2.2b Update

The developers have made a separate section for these changes, that is specifically for the dragon laners of Wild Rift. They have decided to buff a lot of Marksman champions, in order to balance out the highly-biased meta on the role, especially with Kai’Sa, Ezreal and Corki being almost the only picks in the game.

Ashe (Buffed- Minor)

wild rift 2.2b update
Ashe has been buffed in this patch update

According to the developers, Wild Rift’s Ashe is a lot weaker compared to its PC counterpart. They have decided to reduce her Ability 2 cooldown by 1 second, though this will not be very impactful in the game. However, it will be significant at a greater extent, once her Ability 2 is maxed out, and she is able to use the ability once every 4 seconds at most (without Ability Haste).

  • (2) Volley: Cooldown: 14/11/8/5s → 13/10/7/4s

Tristana (Buffed- Major)

Tristana has been buffed in this patch

As supposed to be early-game champion similar to Draven, Tristana has not doing her job well. The developers have decided to make her damaging abilities a lot stronger which will now make her a threat especially on Level 5. Especially, since she had recent buffs as well. Expect her to be a lot more popular pick this patch!

  • (3) Explosive Charge: Active base damage: 65/80/95/110 → 70/90/110/130
  • (Ult) Buster Shot: Base damage: 300/400/500 → 350/450/550

Varus (Buffed- Major)

Wild Rift Varus
Varus has been buffed in this patch!

He has been receiving nothing but buffs as well, but none has seemed to put him into the stronger side of the meta. However, with this patch, Varus is expected to be more of a threat, considering the huge increase in his Ability 2 active’s numbers. Finally, his huge increase on his mana pool will give him more gas to spam his opponents early game which synergizes with Manamune as well which is expected to be a popular core item on him this patch. We can vouch that he will be a lot stronger this patch.

  • Base Stats: Base Mana: 345 → 390
  • (2) Blighted Quiver: Missing health damage:
    • Level 1: 6.5% to 9.75% → 6.5% to 13%
    • Level 15: 13.5% to 20.25% → 13.5% to 27%

Vayne (Buffed- Minor)

wild rift 2.2b update

Vayne has a very weak early-game, which the developers have confirmed, despite her past buffs. To give her more fighting power to survive early-game and scale to the later stages of the game, they have decided to buff her once again. Moreover, they have specifically buffed her ultimate, which will be very helpful for her on all stages of the game overall.

  • (Ult) Final Hour:
    • Bonus AD: 20/30/40 → 30/40/50
    • Cooldown: 90/75/60s → 80/70/60s

Xayah (Buffed- Minor)

Even with her recent buffs and getting placed in higher ranks in community tier list, Xayah still received buffs this patch. The developers have decided to make her Ability 2 more usable especially in the laning phase, though it is more significant on mid game. Finally, they increased Ability 3’s root which will make landing the ability more rewarding. This is expected to make her even stronger.

  • (2) Deadly Plumage:
    • Mana: 60 → 50
    • Cooldown: 20/18/16/14s → 19/17/15/13s
  • (3) Bladecaller: Root duration: 1s → 1.25s

Item Changes

According to the developers, Enchanter supports like Janna, Nami and Lulu were over-performing. They have decided to nerf their core items, in order to balance the meta. This will delay their power spike overall, giving the other champions more room to play around them, especially before they get their items.

Ardent Censer

  • Total cost: 2600g → 2800g
  • Combine cost: 650g → 850g

Harmonic Echo

  • Base damage: 16 to 30 → 16 to 25
  • Bonus damage HP ratio: 1% → 0.8%

Rune Changes

Conqueror

Many will agree with this, Conqueror has always been the strongest rune in the game. In fact, it is picked on all roles, except support due to its value and potential. However, the developers have stated how the rune is getting too efficient on ranged champions. This is because of their ability to stack it from afar, even before a teamfight or skirmish begins. With this Patch 2.2b Update, expect the rune to be slightly harder to keep, unless you decide to commit on fights.

  • Stack duration: 8s → 6s

Summoner Spell Changes

Barrier

This rune has been seeing a lot of popularity this recent patch, even used by Baron laners and Mid laners. The main reason for this is because of its short cooldown, making it an excellent survivability rune. This is especially, when paired with heal. Moreover, it makes killing baron laners fairly more difficult and also provides strong duelling power with its decent shield. These reasons has resulted its nerf this patch in hope to bring back the other summoner spells to the table.

  • Cooldown: 90s → 120s

Game System Changes

Dragons

The developers stated this before in a tweet, the value of the elemental dragons come in an order, based on win rate. This order has been decided to be in Cloud > Infernal > Mountain > Ocean. They have decided to weaken the two strongest dragons, decreasing their value. This is expected to put balance between the dragons. However, looking into a better perspective, this will affect how players will be deciding to totally trade dragons now for turrets, map control and pressure. We are yet to see how it plays out.

Infernal Dragon

  • Damage bonus: 8% → 6%

Elder Infernal Dragon

  • Damage bonus: 12% → 9%
  • Damage bonus per stack: 4% → 3%

Cloud Dragon

  • Movement speed bonus: 7.5% → 6%

Elder Cloud Dragon

  • Movement speed bonus: 11.25% → 9%
  • Movement speed bonus per stack: 3.75% → 3%

Free-to-Play Champions

  • April 29 – May 5 : Ezreal, Jarvan IV, Jhin, Leona, Lee Sin, Malphite, Orianna, Seraphine, Rakan, Teemo
  • May 6 – May 12: Amumu, Camille, Draven, Katarina, Kennen, Lulu, Nami, Rammus, Vayne, Zed
