Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile to release on Android on 28th January as early access

American publisher of games, Wizards of the Coast famously known for card game Magic: The Gathering, has announced the release of its mobile version. It will be named Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile, and will release for Android devices on January 28. It will be released initially as an early access title. Wizards of the Coast is primarily known for games based on fantasy and science fiction themes.


Gameplay Overview

Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile is a fantasy-themed digital collectible card game. Here players build custom card decks and go head-to-head in turn-based online combat. Players get the option to choose a heroic persona. All the matches occur between two players on a virtual table. The players take turns laying down cards representing creatures, abilities, and resources. Cards let players attack and block, and completed matches earn players in-game currency and new cards/decks.

The mobile version will include all contents that are available for the PC players. It will also include the upcoming Viking-themed Kaldheim expansion. It is also being said that it will allow you to play against PC players or vice versa.

System Requirements

No, you need to have high-end smartphones from the last two years or so for early access. Later on, the developers will reduce these requirements when the game is fully launched on mobile. For the early access, Wizards are targeting 30 FPS and one hour of minimum playtime without issues. The recommended specifications are:

Android Version: 6.0 (Marshmallow)
RAM: 4GB
Graphics API: OpenGL ES 3.0
Texture Compression: ETC2

When can we expect Magic: The Gathering Arena on iOS?

As per the official announcement, Magic: The Gathering Arena Mobile will be released only on Android.
