The first official live stream for NieR Reincarnation was held on the 2nd of February by Square Enix revealing the release date for Japan. Creative director Yoko Taro, Director Daichi Matsukawa and Producer Yosuke Saito commented on the video and Yoko Taro also revealed details about the game’s development and game systems. Director Matsukawa started out by bringing viewers who weren’t aware of the game up to speed with some help from Yoko Taro. However, it is worth mentioning that, this is only for Japan and there has been no official statement on when this game will be available in the rest of the world.
NieR Reincarnation is going to be a special one
According to Yoko Taro during the stream, he wants every game to be unique and while NieR Reincarnation was initially bound to be a NieR Automata spinoff, the Creative Director wants it to be different and special because it’s the franchise’s first entry into the mobile gaming world. Despite this, the game would still be a part of the rest of the series.
Among other smaller details, it was revealed that the characters you can choose are pretty balanced and the game includes a wide range of characters. Also, the game would have a slightly different musical atmosphere as compared to the other games. Other than that, the Creative Director, Director and Producer also went over a bunch of other random stuff and answered questions from viewers. A Pixiv fan art competition was also announced with 1.5 Million Yen (around $15,000) grand prize. The competition starts on the eighteenth of February and goes on till the fourth of April. That being said, If you’re living in Japan, you can pre-register for NieR Reincarnation on Android and iOS which will release on the 18th of this month in the with no official dates for launch outside of the land of the rising sun.
