PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite will not be accessible from India any more, confirmed Tencent Games

On 2nd September 2020, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) of Govt. of India imposed a ban on the massively popular Battle Royale game, PUBG Mobile and its lite version. The ban was imposed due to a violation of the User Agreement and Privacy of the players. Also, the National Security was at threat. The game was removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India within a few hours. The official PUBG Mobile team today announced that PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite will not be accessible from India any more as they will terminate services and access to the game for all Indian users on October 30, 2020.

They issued a notice saying that they respect the decision and order of the Indian Government and actively working with them to sort out the issue. The ban left many gamers and streamers clueless. For them, PUBG Mobile was not only a game rather it was an emotion. The impact of the ban was clearly seen at the initial stage.

Although, many people were still able to access the game as the servers were still alive. The game functioned normally and the players could play without any difficulties. Apart from this, people had hoped for PUBG Mobile to make a comeback as PUBG Corp had pulled out of their partnership with Tencent from publishing the game in India. In addition to this, many news and speculations surfaced. There were many reports regarding PUBG Mobile looking for Indian Companies like Reliance Jio to tie up and re-launch in the market.


PUBG Mobile to terminate all service and access for Indian users

However, PUBG Mobile confirmed that they will terminate all the services and access for the users in India for PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite on October 30th. They announced it on their Official Facebook page and Discord server.

In the official post, the PUBG Mobile team announced that they will return the rights to publish PUBG Mobile in India back to the PUBG Corporation, the owner of the PUBG Intellectual property. They also stated that they deeply regret this outcome and thanked the huge Indian fanbase of the game for all the love and support.
