Rockstar Games has revived Max Payne Mobile for Android with the new Version 2.1.131 update this month. The mobile version, developed by War Drum Studios, receives its first update in years, bringing general bug fixes and improvements to help the classic action shooter run on every Android device.
Max Payne Mobile is finally playable again on Android devices
So, it honestly came as a surprise to see Rockstar Games suddenly revisit Max Payne Mobile after such a long while. I mean, the game had gradually become unavailable for many Android users due to compatibility issues, but this latest update appears to address those problems and let you enjoy this iconic shooter once again. Something similar happened to Grimlight’s offline version, which was delisted this May.
Now, for those somehow still unfamiliar with Max Payne, it is one of the most influential action games ever made, according to me. I mean, this game actually introduced and popularized the Bullet Time mechanic in games, letting you dive through the air and slow down time during intense gunfights, creating a fun cinematic experience. I particularly enjoy this in the iconic TPS, Total Overdose.

Like many, I became an instant fan of Max Payne’s cool, slow-motion combat and gritty storytelling, and you can experience this too now. Rockstar notes that the current update includes general bug fixes and improvements, so you should try running the game again on your Android devices and once again play as the beloved fugitive undercover cop caught in a relentless story filled with betrayal, conspiracy, and tragedy.
Personally, I’m actually really happy to see Rockstar Games bring the game back from the dead with this surprise update. Well, many fans had assumed it would be EOS, considering the previous update arrived all the way back in 2019, with one fan even saying, “no freaking way Rockstar remembered their broken port.” So, do give it a try by downloading it via the Google Play Store for just $4.49.
