In the upcoming December 2025 updateBrawl Stars is bringing gameplay changes, including a new power called Buffies, the Claw Machine, Brawler reworks, Brawl Pass changes, Economy buffs, and more. And, the Brawl Talk will take place on December 13. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!

Brawl Stars December 2025 Update: Gameplay Changes

As you know by now, Brawl Stars has added all the Hypercharges for each Brawler, so they have now introduced permanent gameplay changes.

  • So, the game has totally skipped Power Level 12.
  • Instead of that, they’re adding the new power, known as Buffies, that acts as buffs to your Starr Powers, Gadgets, and Hypercharge.
  • For this update, you’ll get 18 Buffies, with more coming with separate Claw Machines.
  • You can also look forward to discounted in-app purchases and Gem offers in the future.
  • Additionally, both Mythic and Epic Gears will be removed, once all Brawlers who’ve those Gears get their Buffies.
  • And, you can actually aim with some Gadgets now.

Buffies and Buffies Design

So, Brawl Stars is introducing a new power, called Buffies, which will improve your Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharge. Plus, each Brawler will have three Buffies, one for both Starr Powers, one for both Gadgets, and one for their Hypercharge. And, you can pull random Buffies from the new Claw Machine, and they’re named as Gadget Buffie, Star Buffie, and Hyper Buffie.

In-game, they’ll look like cute key chains, which you can briefly see in a match, but stay with you on the main screen. Then, they plan to release Buffies for 6 Brawlers in the upcoming update and make this the baseline, as these take more time for implementation, unlike Hypercharge, so you can even expect fewer than 6 in some updates.

Let’s explain it to you by taking the reworked Spike as an example. With his first Gadget, you can fire two waves of three needles that deal damage and slow enemies; however, when combined with its Buffie, it can briefly root your enemy if all three needles hit. The same goes for his other Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharge.

The Claw Machine

I’m actually looking forward to this one, as Claw Machine is the place from which you can pull your Buffies, with each pull costing 1000 Coins and 2000 Power Points. Each Claw Machine contains the Buffies of a limited number of Brawlers. Plus, they’ll be available for direct purchase with Gems or IAP in the future.

The team has changed their approach for this, as they’re now testing with soft currency first, and Gems/IAP later, unlike Hypercharges. So, things might change in the future, and more Buffies will be added and distributed in different Claw Machines, to keep the reward pool the same regardless of how many Buffies arrive in-game.

You can expect 18 Buffies with 6 Buffies per Claw Machine. That said, this feature unlocks once you reach 1,000 trophies, and the first Buffie pull you receive is always free. Another cool part is, once you obtain all the Buffies, you can then use Bling to pull different Skins for your Buffie from the Claw Machine, with each pull costing 10,000 Bling.

Reworking older Brawlers, enhancing competitive depth, and more

The team also explained why this new power system builds on what already exists rather than replacing it. Firstly, they want to add more depth to competitive matches, without making the core more complex, giving competitive players more room for strategy, while casuals can enjoy something new without needing to learn.

They also feel that with nearly 100 Brawlers, this is the right time to revisit older Brawlers and improve their kits, while staying true to each Brawler’s original identity. Another goal is to “focus more on utility and skill expression as opposed to raw strength.” While some Buffies will boost power, not all of them will work that day.

With this update, the Epic and Mythic Gears will be removed for the Brawlers receiving these Buffies, though you’ll be refunded. I’m particularly excited for the Gadgets rework, as specific ones will now use an aimable Joystick to raise the skill ceiling, but you’ll still be able to tap to activate if you like the current style.

Additional Changes

I can tell this update is going to be huge because the entire Economy is getting a buff. So, the team is adding more resources to the early Trophy Road for new players, and increasing rewards in places meant for end-game players, like the Brawl Pass tail rewards and Mega Quests.

Brawl Stars Ultra Chaos Drops

While that’s impressive, the more exciting part is the new Starr Drop called Chaos Drop, especially since it will be worth four times more on average. Moreover, you can earn everything a normal Starr Drop offers, but it can also be split up to eight times, like Sushi.

ItemsDrop Rate
Random Hypercharge24.7%
Mythic Brawler24.7%
Legendary Brawler9.9%
Ultra Brawler0.4%
Epic Skins9.90%
Mythic Skins3.9%
Legendary Skins1.4%
Buffie24.7%

And, whatever rarity it lands on is the one that gets multiplied, which technically means that you have a chance of getting 8 Legendary Drops or 8 Ultras, which is a new rarity exclusive to Chaos Drops. Oh, and you’ll find these Chaos Drops in the new Brawl Pass, randomly in Daily Wins, and occasionally via events.
