Genshin Impact is an open-world role-playing game developed and published by HoYoverse. The game is heavily infused with the Gacha system. Similar to loot boxes, gacha games entice players to spend in-game currency to receive a random in-game item/reward. The statistics from Paimon.moe show a huge difference between overall banner sales for Arataki Itto and Wanderer in Genshin Impact.
However, there’s no doubt of the fact that Itto and Wanderer’s double banner is still a success considering that it’s 5th in all-time sales for characters revenue in Genshin Impact.
Wanderer’s lore made a deep impact on the community and banner sales
One of the main reasons for a such major difference in sales is Lore. Wanderer/Scaramouche is the sixth of the eleven fatui harbingers, teased way back in Genshin Impact version 1.1 as an antagonist. His second appearance came in Chapter II of archon quests appearing as a minor antagonist. Scaramouche becomes a major antagonist in version 3.2 of Sumeru Archon quest Chapter III serving as a weekly boss and main villain in form of Shoki no Kami, an artificial God.
Having a lore this deep and being introduced so early in the game it is obvious that Wanderer made a deep impact on the Genshin Impact community than Itto; hence, the difference in banner sales. Talking gameplay wise Wanderer is a very nice DPS addition to the Anemo element. He is also the first type of character which can levitate using his elemental skill making him even more special.
On the flip side, Arataki Itto was first introduced in early December 2021. When talking lore-wise, Itto had a very minor role in Archon quests and only had a good amount of screen time in his story quest. Also, the fact that this is his 3rd rerun in version 3.3 made him less appealing when compared with Wanderer. Arataki Itto when talking gameplay-wise is a great DPS in full Mono geo teams because of his high attack DEF stats.
