Call of Duty: Mobile announced the arrival of the new DMZ: Recon mode on the 12th of December 2025. The hit battle royale just introduced the mode in-game, and you can expect to experience high-stakes extraction gameplay in a fast-paced and tight combat zone.
As this is going to take up your time and attention, I’ve decided to help you with this. So, this Call of Duty Mobile: DMZ Recon guide will provide you with everything you need to rock the game.
CoD Mobile: DMZ Recon Overview: Land, fight, loot, and extract
The tactical extraction experience is set in the new Serpent Island map. This is the third major game mode in this game. In this mode, squads of up to three drop into one of two maps and engage in PvPvE combat.

You will rush against incoming radiation zones, always shrinking, and before time runs out, you must successfully extract to keep your progress. Besides, there are a lot of things going on at the same time in this mode, make sure you go through this complete guide to know what does what, and you will find yourself in a confidence zone.
Mastering the DMZ Recon mode in COD Mobile
Let’s start with the PvPvE first. In this mode, you will fight against both real-time enemies and virtual ones. That’s why I mentioned the importance of a good loadout. To gain an upper hand in this mode, you not need to engage in a fight. Sometimes spotting an enemy is enough to keep your Operator alive and progressing.
When you’re undergeared, it is wise to let go of any kind of engagement. Try to establish a connection with the other players. Maybe a few emotes and simple nods may help. This is risky but it increases your chances of survival.

You will see countless enemies rushing at you. So, teamwork is necessary here. Learn that fast in order to clear the enemies off. You should also know the types of Hostiles, like there are Normal Infantry, Rocketeers, Flame troopers, Snipers, etc. Try to understand their roles so you know what to do against which.
CoD Mobile DMZ Recon: Guide: Tips and Tricks
So, these are my top suggestions for you as I explained everything in detail. Make sure you follow the ones that catch your attention. Do not forget to try the other ones as well as everything this guide has, are good for your progression.
1. Take your time to explore and learn the Map
The battle becomes easy if you know where you’re going to land your next step. Serpent Island is the perfect map for this mode, having everything you need to make the gameplay spicy. So, you need to study the map closely to gain an upper hand during the action.
Not only the island, but you also have to learn the other map, Building 21. This is an entirely indoor map spread over three floors featuring a faster pace and more intense moment-to-moment gameplay. It also offers a garage, offices, restaurants, and a living area where the action will take place. The tighter layout creates a more competitive match experience.
2. Have a plan for Loadouts and Talents
You should be moving into the map with a decent loadout and a plan. And, a part of this plan is how you’re going to play, i.e. offensive, defensive, or anything else you might have in your mind. But if you’re looking to get into a match quickly, use the Quick Fill option during the pre-battle phase, and you can select one of the pre-made Loadouts.
The pre setup should be defined before based on what your aim is. For the talent section, let me explain a bit. There are three different Talent Trees: Scavenger, Assaulter, and Medical. Each tree has its unique set of Active and Passive Skills.

Based on your playstyle, you can build and craft each Talent Tree. So, before upgrading or unlocking something new, make sure your new skill matches your playstyle. Let’s learn what the talents are about:
- Scavenger: It is all about gathering intel. It can range from detecting enemy activity by seeing enemy footsteps to denying information to the enemy by hiding the armor tier you’re wearing when they’ve hit you. This talent’s main Active Skill lets you quickly fire a probe that scans a small area, revealing any enemies on your mini map. You can choose this if you like to go solo.
- Assaulter: Yeah, you know the role! You focus on aggressiveness and operate faster and with better precision. Its Active Skill can take you back in time several seconds ago. It is useful for quickly escaping an ambush.
- Medical: This is a defensive and support role at the same time. You’re the hope of your squad in need. The main Active Skill gives you a smoke bomb so you can retreat, confuse, or give you cover to revive a teammate.
3. The main source of income is Contract
Without proper gear and all, you may find yourself in an uncomfortable situation. If you’re not lucky enough with the loot, contracts will become your primary source of income. So, try to find contractors all over the island and take out HVTs or search for intel and complete them while being rewarded in return. No wonder the contract will put you in front of others’ firing lines, but that is the price of work at hand.
4. Introducing the Bosses
There are two bosses on Serpent Island, Kui Ji and The Tank. There are spot specific, meaning that you will know where you can find them. However, you may see them moving near their spawn points. Finding them is easy, defeating them is a different story.
Now, let’s take a brief look at them:
- Kui Ji: He is extremely dangerous as he can perform a Finishing Move on you and take you out of the game in a blink. You should maintain a distant during a fight against him. Defeating him doesn’t complete the job as you will need to be back to the Exfil.
- The Tank: A heavily armored, heavily armed robot on wheels. If you’re planning on taking The Tank out, you’ll need a lot of ammo. So, you might want to keep a distance as well.
5. Exfil in DMZ: Recon
There are many options in Exfil. Just be sure to start looking at these options before the match timer is up and the Radiation Zone begins to spread. An exfil may require a certain item so know them and their types. Here’s a few examples of exfils:

- Normal Exfil
- Random Exfil
- Payment Exfil
- Boat Exfil
- Train Exfil
- Elevator Exfil
6. Looting in The Black Market
Like contracts, loot is one of the primary sources to earn resources. There will be a lot of rushing and gun-firing everywhere, but you will need to loot for the sake of survival. Starting the mode will be only with very basic and low-powered weapons and gear.
But you can utilise the Black Market to upgrade your gear and purchase better weapons, better armor, Armor Plates, ammo, and more. Looting is extremely important to gather cash and purchase items from the black market.
The more valuables you extract with, the more you’ll be able to sell and gain cash. And cash means you get to buy the desired products! Make sure to search and loot the safes and vaults as they’re the ones with high loot items.
7. Progression system in the mode
The progression system in this mode is a bit harsh, as elimination will cause you to lose all your items in your Loadout except for what’s in your safe slot. However, there are several missions which you can complete, such as Faction Missions, Weekly Missions, and Achievement Missions.

As you progress in-game, you will be able to unlock new items like Reactive Camos. High-value, dynamic weapon camos that are able to be used across all Call of Duty Mobile Modes. So, I strongly believe that this guide will deliver what you need, and you’ll act accordingly. That’s all for this Call of Duty Mobile DMZ Recon guide. Read our other COD Mobile articles:
