eFootball 2026 Epic European Clubs Guardians (Pique, Irwin, Ambrosini) Jan ’26 pack review

Defensive trio!

eFootball 2026 keeps dropping Epic packs almost every week, and while some are easy skips, this one actually makes you stop and look. There’s no Big Time card this time like the Manchester United pack, but the names in the Epic European Clubs Guardians pack are something to look at in eFootball 2026.

With Gerard Piqué, Denis Irwin, and Massimo Ambrosini headlining the pack, this draw is clearly aimed at boosting your defensive game. Many would say this isn’t a solid pack, but what do I think? All points in this review and a verdict following the same.

eFootball 2026 Epic European Clubs Guardians players

Gerard Piqué

  • Position: CB
  • Playing Style: Build Up
  • Showtime Skill: Aerial Fort and Long Reach Tackle

Piqué comes in with a very strong Build Up profile, and what immediately stands out is the inclusion of two defensive Showtime skills. Getting both Aerial Fort and Long Reach Tackle alone already pushes him into top-tier territory.

Add his height, physical presence, and ball-playing ability, and he starts looking like a very complete center-back option. Defensively, the numbers are excellent across awareness, engagement, and tackling, and he’s also comfortable on the ball.

His passing and tight possession suits the Build Up role perfectly, and if you scan around, only Koeman comes closes, but he’s a Destroyer. Aerially, between his height and Aerial Fort, he should dominate most duels with ease. A lot of people point out his pace as a concern, but that feels a bit overblown.

With the right build, he can sit around 85 speed and 80 acceleration, which is more than enough given his role. As a Build Up CB, he’s not charging up the pitch anyway, and with solid positioning and reach, he should have no trouble dealing with strikers.

Suggested Skills: Heading, Acrobatic Clearance, One Touch Pass

Suggested Booster(s): Shutdown, Stealing

Denis Irwin

  • Position: LB
  • Playing Style: Offensive Full-back
  • Showtime Skill: Acceleration Burst and Edged Crossing

Irwin is once again that reliable, all-round left-back option. He’s never been about flashy physical presence, and the lack of height is still there, but consistency has always been his biggest strength in-game, and I can back this claim since I still have his Iconic Moment turned Legendary card.

He offers good balance across attack and defense, although you surely would need to add a few skills here. Edged Crossing is where his offensive value really comes in, and if you want to maximize it, boosting his passing and curl makes a lot of sense.

Acceleration Burst complements that perfectly, burst past the defender, create space, and deliver the cross early. Defensively, he’s solid enough to hold his own, even if he’s not an outright stopper. For an offensive fullback, there are no weaknesses, yes, there are better players than him, but a fantastic card here.

Suggested Skills: Low Lofted Pass, Double Touch, Blocker, Fighting Spirit

Suggested Booster(s): Off the Ball, Hard Worker

Massimo Ambrosini

  • Position: DMF
  • Playing Style: Destroyer
  • Showtime Skill: Fortress

Ambrosini feels like one of those quietly underrated cards that don’t get enough attention. Stat-wise, he looks very strong defensively, and his profile allows him to play both DMF and CB if needed. The defensive awareness, engagement, and tackling numbers are all amazing, even when tweaked.

At CB, he can reach some very impressive overall numbers, potentially even around the 106-107 mark, but given the current influx of Destroyer center-backs, he makes more sense as a DMF. That’s where his already added skills come together better.

He looks especially suited for a double pivot setup, where he can focus on breaking up play while a more creative partner handles progression. A defensive skill instead of Fortress would have been my preference, but yeah, overall a strong card.

Suggested Skills: Heading, Acrobatic Clearance

Suggested Booster(s): Defending, Shutdown, Strength

Best pick from the Epic European Clubs Guardians pack in eFootball 2026

Looking at this pack on paper, it’s clearly built around defense, with a proper center-back, a reliable full-back, and a destroyer-type midfielder. Three different roles, three actually strong picks, and something different with so many attackers in the game.

Would I spend my coins on this pack? Honestly, yes. As a Barca fan, Piqué is my pick, and honestly, if used correctly, he is a fantastic top-tier option, and very rarely do we get ball-playing CBs. No more loss of balance while passing from the back. The other two aren’t endgame, but still can find playing time.

Here’s my final cards tier list and pack rating.
