Know which players to pick for your Fantasy team

It is a few days or so remaining for the beginning of another 38 weeks of non-stop action and drama in the top flight of English football, a.k.a the Premier League. The players, managers, fans, and fantasy managers are eagerly waiting for the new season to start. Leaving behind the previous FPL season, be it a successful one or one filled with debacles, the fantasy managers would have to start afresh and build their new squads. Here is our handpicked players’ suggestion, for the FPL managers from 2021/22 newly Promoted Teams from the Championship, who might become sensational signings for the fantasy teams.

Norwich City

Making an immediate return to the top flight at the first time of asking, Norwich stuck with the winning formula that saw them gain promotion in the 2018-19 season. Still, under the management of Daniel Farke, the canaries are now a more well-rounded team keeping 5 more clean sheets than they managed two years ago. But their total of 75 goals though is still impressive and the second-best tally in the division behind Brentford was in fact 18 fewer than the last time around.

Starting 45 out of 46 games no player earned more minutes for nourish last season than Max Aarons. Present for all 18 of the side’s clean sheets the right-back was named in the PFA Championship team of the year alongside center-back Grant Hanley and goalkeeper Tim Krul. Although his tally of 2 assists was four fewer than in the 2018-19 campaign, the 21-year-old improved his output of attempted assists from 31 to 61.

Emi Buendia (Midfielder) – 6.5m [Aston Villa]

Midfielder Emi Buendia, was the most creative player for the canaries last season before completing his move to Aston Villa this summer. No player in the division provided as many assists while his total of 122 attempted assists was 36 more than any other player. He has spent 3340 minutes on the pitch in 39 appearances smashing 15 goals and assisted 16 times.

With Jack Grealish moving to Manchester City Buendia could be left to fill the void as Aston Villa’s creative spot. The Argentine offers a small saving on Greelish at 6.5 million. The 24-year-old could link up well with Villa’s other assets given their opening fixtures against Watford, Newcastle, and Brentford. He’s certainly someone to consider right from the off.

Teemu Pukki (Forward) – 6.0m

After making a strong start to the 2019-20 premier league season the goals dried up for Teemu Pukki in the second half of the campaign. But he recaptured his form to fire Norwich to their first-place finish in the championship last season with 26 goals just three fewer than his 2018-19 tally.

Continuing to operate as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation the Finn was directly involved in 40% of his team’s goals and his total of 137 shots ranked second in the division. Boosted by penalty duties the 31-year-old converted five of his seven spot-kicks last term but it’s a tricky start to life back in the top flight for the canaries who face four consecutive matches against big six sides before a more encouraging run between gameweeks 5 and 14.

Brentford

Brentford secured promotion to the Premier League after a 74-year absence overcoming Bournemouth and Swansea in the playoffs following their third-place finish. Characterized by a high-tempo attack-minded brand of football, no team in the championship scored as many as their 79 goals. But they were the least impressive of the promoted teams defensively. Three teams in the division conceded fewer goals and four teams kept more than their17 clean sheets including Norwich with 18 and Watford with 23

Ethan Pinnock (Defender) – 4.5m

Making 42 appearances across the league in playoffs commanding center-back Ethan Pinnock was ever-present at the heart of the defense. In fact, only Ivan Toney and goalkeeper David Raya played more minutes for the bees last season. A rock at the back throughout the 28-year-old was rewarded with a place in the PFA Championship team of the year along with Tony and left-back Rico Henry.

Despite scoring just one goal a tally of 31 shots all of which were from inside the box ranked comfortably top amongst Brentford defenders. His total of 288 clearances blocks and interceptions was also a team-leading figure.

Bryan Mbeumo (Midfielder) – 5.5m

21-year-old winger Bryan Mbeumo was one of the championships breakout stars when he arrived the season before last amassing 16 goals and 7 assists in the 2019-20 season. Despite his new-look frontline after the departures of Saïd Benrahma and Ollie Watkins, he was able to maintain an impressive output last season directly contributing to 18 goals.

The Frenchman’s tally of 55 shots in the box ranked top amongst Brentford midfielders only beaten by highly-rated forward Ivan Toney across all positions. Mbeumo also excelled creatively with only Mathias Jensen offering more than his 57 attempted assists while no teammate could better his 10 big chances created.

Ivan Toney (Forward) – 6.5m

Ivan Tony is already owned by over 37% of FPL managers, the 25-year-old has quickly become the most selected forward in the game following his record-breaking number of goals last season. In addition to his 33 goals across 48 appearances including playoffs, no player in the division struck the woodwork more times than his four.

Comfortable in either a 4-3-3 formation or the 3-4-1-2 system employed by Thomas Frank towards the end of the campaign. Toney offered not only goals but also creativity only four players in the division provided more than his 10 assists while his tally of 10 big chances created ranked joint top with Bryan Mbeumo amongst teammates.

Watford

With a second-place finish in a 2020-21 EFL Championship Watford secured an immediate return back to the Premier League a year after suffering relegation. A strong defense was the foundation for their success they kept a league-best 23 clean sheets and conceded just 30 goals, 6 fewer than any other side in the division. But the Hornets were less convincing in attack with 5 teams notching more than their 63 goals scored including Norwich with 75 and Brentford with 84.

Francisco Sierralta (Defender) – 4.5m

Arriving as a new signing in September last year, the 24-year-old center-back Francisco Sierralta soon became a mainstay in the Watford line. He started 24 after 26 league games since Xisco Muñoz took charge of the club in December playing a hand in 14 clean sheets during that spell. Although he scored only one goal, tallies of 18 shots and 17 shots in the box ranked comfortably top amongst Watford defenders.

Kiko Femenia (Defender) – 4.5m

Kiko Femenia is one of the topmost choices of FPL managers among Watford defenders who offered the most creativity recording 4 assists and 30 attempted assists in his 3035 mins spent on the pitch.

Kiko Femenia has 11 shots and 11 clean sheets in his 37 appearances in the championship last season. As Watford has a very good defensive record while promoting to the premier league Femenia can be a phenomenal signing for the FPL team for 4.5m

Ismaila Sarr (Midfielder) – 6.0m

The club’s top goalscorer Ismaila Sarr is undoubtedly their key man in attack and both premier league experience having racked up five goals and seven assists in a 2019-20 campaign last season. The 22-year-old started 39 games and went on to finish 36 of those operating from the right-wing typically in a 4-3-3 formation. His tallies of 86 shots 62 shots in the box and 32 efforts on target were all team-leading figures though only officially credited with four assists.
