FPL GW 9 Differentials 2021/22: 5 Fantasy Players that can help boost your rank

It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition?

The English Premier League is well and truly off and running and the same intensity is visible in the Fantasy Premier League as in the EPL table. After 8 exciting gameweeks and a rollercoaster of emotions, Chelsea sits at the top, but not comfortably at all, with Liverpool, City, Spurs, and a shock Brighton all a maximum of 4 points away. The season is finally taking a shape, and we all have come up to know the ones you can not miss out on in FPL teams. But those are not the ones who make you have the upper hand over your rival FPL managers, and that is where the differentials come to play. Here is a list of FPL GW 9 Differentials 2021/22 that can bolster your squads ahead of gameweek 9.

FPL GW 9 Differentials 2021/22

1. Jarrod Bowen (Midfielder) – 6.3 million

The battle for the best West Ham asset first lit up in the early gameweeks, and their popularity is unlikely to deplete any. However, there seems to be another competitor roaming under the radar, in the form of an underrated English winger, Jarrod Bowen. There’s no doubt, Bowen is in fine form, with 4 returns over the last 4 games involving 1 goal and 3 assists. His stats of 1.16 shots on target per 90 and 1.79 key passes per 90 all rank in the top 2 out of all West Ham players. Considering the abundance of quality within the Hammers’ starting lineup, boasting the likes of Antonio and Benrahma, this is quite an impressive accomplishment.

West Ham meet Spurs in Gameweek 9, in an attempt to address the 1 point separating them on the PL table. Luckily for West Ham fans, it could be argued that Spurs sit in a difficult position defensively, ranking in the bottom half for goals conceded per 90 (1.5) and shots on target conceded per 90 (15.25).

2. Sadio Mane (Midfielder) – 11.9 million

Mohammed Salah has been an absolute monster for FPL managers since the start of the season, effortlessly hitting a total of 10.4 points per game! It is almost essential to own him regardless, but his popularity has seemed to overshadow his partner in crime, Sadio Mane. Whilst not hitting the heights his opposing winger has hit, Mane has still tallied a comfortable number of points whilst sitting quietly under the radar for the small 3.2% of owners, with 49 points6th best of all other FPL options. He has only blanked twice so far, recording 5 goals, as well as 3.87 shots per 90 (Salah with 4.00), and a total xG of 5.8 (higher than Salah’s 4.6). Obviously, Salah has been playing on a different level to all other FPL assets, but the stats show that Mane is not far behind.

The Fixture Difficulty Rating for Liverpool’s game looks tough, as they face Manchester United. However, the Red Devils have not been at their best recently, conceding an average of 1.25 goals per game, and a total of 34 shots on target. They come off the back of a devastating 4-2 defeat to the hands of Leicester and are yet to take home 3 PL points since mid-September. 11.9 million is a very large number, difficult to make space for, but could turn out to be a fantastic opportunity for trailing FPL managers to catch up.

3. Odsonne Edouard (Forward) – 6.5 million

Crystal Palace won the race for the highly-rated French attacker in the summer transfer window, and it instantly looked as though they had a gem on their hands. A 2 goal tally within just 6 minutes of being in a Palace shirt proved to football fans what Edouard can bring to the club, however, the fixtures didn’t seem right to bring him in just then. Now, as the schedule turns for the Eagles, Edouard can finally be considered a strong FPL asset. Crystal Palace comes head to head with Newcastle, City, Wolves, and Burnley all within the next 4 matches, with Newcastle and Burnley both ranking 20th and 15th for expected goals against.

Despite playing fewer minutes than the rest of his teammates, Edouard still manages to rank 2nd for shots on target within just 3 starts. Furthermore, his numbers of 55.6% shots of which are on target, 1.67 shots on target per 90, and of course the 3 goals, are all the best out of any other Palace player. Against Newcastle in the next game, Edouard ranks within the top 5 of all expected starters in the next gameweek for a chance of scoring (43%). Considering his cheap price, and the 2.6% ownership, this is a solid differential that will likely become one of the popular picks in a few weeks time.

4. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Forward) – 9.9 million

The dreadlocks are back, and so is the classic poacher’s finish with the Gabonese star looking more and more like a top FPL asset once again. The last time out, Aubameyang returned a total of 9 points, scoring a goal and taking away 3 bonus points as well, adding to his growing total of 31 points. As well as that, he has achieved an average of 6 points per game over the last 5 gameweeks, placing himself up the leader board as the 4th most in-form striker in FPL.

Furthermore, in the next fixture against Villa, Aubameyang sits 3rd for the highest chance of scoring too, with 44%, as well as an expected points total of 4.6. The opposition for gameweek 9 is Aston Villa, who sit with a current clean sheet probability of 22%, in the bottom 3 of all other teams. They’ve conceded an average of 1.5 goals and 13.4 shots per game, something Aubameyang can, by all means, take advantage of.

5. Callum Wilson (Forward) – 7.3 million

Newcastle’s star striker marked his return to the team, with a goal against Spurs in gameweek 8, taking away 2 bonus points as well. He began the season on fine form, accumulating 16 points across just 3 weeks, but was then sidelined for the next 4. Past FPL players will know what this man is capable of doing! In the time that he has been around this season in the league, Wilson has recorded 3 goals from 4 games, as well as 1.42 shots on target per 90, and 0.85 goals per 90.

The Magpies face Crystal Palace in gameweek 9, a team that although on-form under the new management of Patrick Vieira, has been very unlucky in games. They’ve conceded 8 goals over the last 4 games, returning an average of 2 conceded per game.
