FPL GW12 Watchlist 2021/22: 5 Fantasy players to watch out for

5 players to transfer in for the upcoming gameweeks!

After the end of FPL 2021/22 GW 12, there has been a lot of share of points with the premium assets delivering huge points. Apart from the popular picks, there are quite a number of players, who have impressed over the weekend with points and underlying stats. The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. All the managers are trying to stabilize their teams with suitable options before the price hikes. In this FPL GW12 Watchlist 2021/22, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

Amidst the international break, the Watchlist is back to identify players who have caught the eye, based on recent performances and upcoming gameweeks. Harry Kane remains the number one target ahead of gameweek 12 whereas Chelsea wingbacks Reece James and Ben Chilwell are also firmly on everyone’s radar.

1. Sergio Reguilón (Defender) – 5.0 million

Tottenham were held to a goalless draw by Everton with the game’s only big chance falling to Sergio Reguilón who was found unmarked at the back post by Harry Kane‘s cross. No teammate had as many as his 2 shots in the box during the match while only Lucas Moura took more than his 3 touches in the opposition’s penalty area. The appointment of Antonio Conte has seen Reguilón move into a left-wing-back role within a 3-4-3 system freeing him up to build on his 2 assists this season.

Both of those have come during the last six gameweeks where only João Cancelo has supplied more amongst defenders with three. Despite conceding 10 goals in that time Spurs ranked sixth-best for expected goals conceded. In the next four gameweeks they face Newcastle and Norwich the two teams with the lowest xG totals so far this season and Brentford who’ve scored the joint fewest number of goals in the last four games.

2. Tariq Lamptey (Defender) – 4.4 million

Lamptey is one of the cheapest Fantasy assets, and during the preseason he was Brighton’s next big thing on everyone’s radar. Since then he has been down with injuries and forced to cameo appearances. But since then he now had has his first start and at the price of 4.4 million can be a vital route to the attacking half of Brighton’s defense. He possesses an expected goals figure of 0.12 and an expected assist figure of 0.11.

Given he is always forward and far wide, Lamptey if he keeps his starting position on the team can be a useful budget enabler for any side. Keep it in mind, you are never going to use Lamptey in place of someone like Trent or James and Chilwell but someone who can always stay on that first sub for some useful points in case the situation warrants. Brighton faces Aston Villa next, followed by Leeds, West Ham, and Southampton. If you don’t have Livramento or even if you have him, just keep an eye for Lamptey, he can surely be the next one.

3. Jarrod Bowen (Midfielder) – 6.3 million

West Ham pulled off an impressive 3-1 win over Liverpool to leapfrog them into third place with Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals both catching the eye. No player during the match could better Bowen’s 0.63 expected assist figure while his tally of two big chances created was only beaten by Callum Hudson Odoi in gameweek 11. The 24-year-old has gone under the radar with returns in six of the last seven gameweeks trailing only Mohamed Salah and Emile Smith Rowe for points in that time with 46.

His tally of 6 assists ranks joint best with the Egyptian while only Raphinha and Salah have taken more shots or landed more efforts on targets. Meanwhile, tally’s of 18 shots in the box and 4 big chances rank Bowen top amongst teammates. The hammers don’t have the easiest run in the next four gameweeks but then we have just seen them score three times against Liverpool. Gameweek 18 to 27 looks like a great time to target West Ham assets.

4. Heung-Min Son (Midfielder) – 10.3 million

The South Korean scored the club’s first goal under Antonio Conte in last Thursday’s 3-2 win over Vitesse but neither he nor Kane landed an effort on target against Everton. Since gameweek 5 where the pair have started every game together, Son has played a direct hand in 4 goals compared to Kane’s two involvements. We’ve seen a far more greedy side to him over this period where he’s recorded 6 big chances to Kane’s 3.

Only Mane and Salah have had more across all positions but Son and Kane have each produced a total of 6 big chance involvements in that time with Kane creating three. Leeds and Norwich, both ranks amongst the bottom three teams for xG conceded this season, Brentford meanwhile has suffered four consecutive defeats with no clean sheets and eight goals conceded in that time.

Note: It has been reported that Son has suffered a minor knock while being on his international duty for South Korea. Therefore keep a note of his injury updates until the gameweek before transferring him to your squad.

5. Diogo Jota (Midfielder) – 7.5 million

According to news that Roberto Firmino is out with a serious hamstring injury for around 4-6 weeks and always it brings Diogo Jota into the picture. He has some exceptional numbers this season with his minutes being the only downside. Jota in his limited playtime boasts an expected goals figure of 0.56 and an expected assists figure of 0.32. Given his price tag, if you don’t have the necessary funds to bring in Son, Jota can be your man. He will be nailed on for the next few weeks in the league’s best attacking side.

Considering the fact that he won’t be a rotation risk with Salah, Mane, and Firmino, Jota becomes an entirely new ballgame. Fixture-wise, Liverpool doesn’t have the best of fixtures in gameweek 12 with a home encounter with a rejuvenated Arsenal but that follows by Southampton, Everton, Wolves, Villa, and Newcastle all the teams, the Reds are sure to cause a problem. But at the price of 7.5 million and being the center-piece of Liverpool’s attack for the next few gameweeks, is nothing but a steal.
