The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. All the managers are trying to stabilize their teams with suitable options before the price hikes. In this FPL GW14 Watchlist 2021/22, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

With the completion of gameweek 13, the Watchlist is back to identify players who have caught the eye, based on recent performances and upcoming fixtures. Liverpool and Spurs are enjoying their smooth fixture, therefore, we will keep special focus on them

1. Marcos Alonso (Defender) – 5.6 million

Considering Chilwell‘s absence due to injury, we can expect Marcos Alonso running on the left flank until or unless Chelsea decides to buy a new left-back. he is a player who often shows up in the opposition’s box and always wants to shoot. The Spanish defender has bagged a total of 41 points during his game time with an average of 5.9 FPL points per match. In that time he has scored 1 goal with a non-penalty expected goals figure of 0.13 (xG/90) and provided one assist with an expected assist figure of 0.18 (xA/90) and also kept 4 clean sheets. Additionally, corners and free-kick duty adds value to his tally.

Chelsea has one of the strongest defenses in the premier league this season with 8 clean sheets in 13 matches and conceded only 5 goals so far. Therefore, FPL managers can expect clean sheets from Chelsea defenders and the fixture looks pretty good till gameweek 20. West Ham is the only team they will face with a difficulty rating of 4 and the rest of the fixtures are rated as 2 or 3 by FPL.

2. Tariq Lamptey (Defender) – 4.4 million

Lamptey is one of the cheapest Fantasy assets, and during the preseason he was Brighton’s next big thing on everyone’s radar. Since then he has been down with injuries and forced to cameo appearances. Recently his FPL points tally is on the rise quickly and the  injury-prone full-back has gone unnoticed under most people’s radar. The young English starlet put out a standout performance for Brighton in an otherwise dull goalless draw with Leeds United. He was a constant threat down the right flank, creating 5 chances, the highest among all defenders this gameweek.

Given Southampton’s tricky fixture run, Lamptey could be the like-for-like replacement for Livramento should he keep himself fit during the busy Christmas period. Keep it in mind, you are never going to use Lamptey in place of someone like Trent or James and Cancelo but someone who can always stay on that first sub for some useful points in case the situation warrants. Additionally Brighton’s forwards has been wasteful recently making most of their attacking chances going into vain

3. Diogo Jota (Midfielder) – 7.8 million

The one player who can match Salah for the next few gameweeks is Diogo Jota. His very recent performance against Southampton was phenomenal and became one of the ‘Kings of Gameweek 13’. In that match, he took a total of 7 shots from inside of the box and created 3 big chances which were better than any other player in that gameweek. The Portuguese midfielder has gathered a total of 36 FPL points from the last 6 gameweeks averaging 6 points/match (9.75 points/90). In that time he netted 4 goals and provided 1 assist and become one of the most wanted players for the FPL managers.

D. Jota has an expected non-penalty goal figure of 0.79 per 90 (xG/90) and 0.27 (xA/90) expected assist figure per 90 in this season. He is expected to start every match until Firminho returns on the training ground and the upcoming fixture of Liverpool is also very much favorable to uplift his stats. Till gameweek 26 Liverpool has only one match with difficulty rating 5, against Chelsea. Looking at the stats, fixture, and team situation Diogo Jota is an absolute bargain to include in the team apart from this he is a number 9 listed as a midfielder which adds extra value to his tally.

4. James Maddison (Midfielder) – 6.6 million

James Maddison is currently enjoying his best form of this season as Leicester City faces Southampton. The English midfielder has scored twice and supplied three assists in the Foxes’ last two matches across all competitions. Over the last 5 gameweeks, Maddison has averaged a total of 2.16 shots on target and has created 0.93 big chances, both of which are league-leading figures among all midfielders.

His goal involvement of 57% is also the most out of any other midfielder as well. Leicester’s opponent in GW14 will be Southampton, who just come off the back of a 4-0 thrashing to the hands of Liverpool. Following up, are Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham Spurs, and Everton. Besides Spurs, the rest three teams rank in bottom half for expected goals conceded over the last 5 gameweeks.

5. Allan Saint-Maximin (Forward) – 6.9 million

Saint-Maximin produced his season-high haul of 10 points in his first home match under Eddie Howe in Gameweek 12. Fans will have their new manager to thank, with Eddie Howe bringing a strong attacking attitude to the dressing room. His total attackiing returns of 3 goals and 4 assists is just one assist short of equalling his best ever return in Fantasy. He possesses a expected non-penalty goal+assists figure of 0.38 per 90 with atleast 2 shots per 90.

Newcastle next faces a home fixture against a Norwich City side who have conceded a league-leading 16 goals away from home this term. After Norwich, they face Brentford, followed by a barren run of Leicester, Liverpool, Man City and Man United. Needless to say, Saint-Maximin is a mere but crucial two-week punt who can prove decisive for Newcastle in their next two matches. Keep in mind, Newcastle’s total of 23 shots and 9 on target was a table-topping number across all teams in the Premier League in Gameweek 12.
