Free Fire KORD weapon guide: Everything you need to know

Tips to master the machine gun efficiently

KORD is an LMG (Light Machine Gun) weapon that was introduced in the OB27 patch update for players in Free Fire. Free Fire is a mobile-based Battle Royale game that is very popular in certain regions of the world including Southeast Asia, Brazil, Europe, and Russia, etc. To help you ace your gameplay and help you choose the best guns out of the lot, we shall take a close look at how this gun has been performing so far, in the game.

About KORD LMG weapon in Free Fire

The gun is inspired by the Kord-12.7 mm heavy machine gun, a Russian design that entered service in 1998 replacing the older NSV machine gun. Externally the weapon resembles the NSV. However, the internal mechanism has been extensively reworked, changing from a horizontally pivoting breech block to a rotating bolt design.

The gun, in-game, however, works a bit differently than the real model. The gun boasts of high firepower and equally amazing clip size. Its true potential can be unleashed while firing the weapon in the squat or prone position. UP next we will explore all those aspects one after the other:

1. Gun Stats

The gun has a clip size of 80 bullets, a pre-equipped 2x scope, and requires no additional attachments. The last being one of the uniqueness of this gun. So far, there aren’t many guns that don’t offer attachments, exceptions being the M1887 and M79.

With an impressive range, stopping power, and clip size, players can spray consistently and destroy Gloowalls quickly. Accuracy-wise, the gun has better alternatives. The same is the case with Armour Piercing capabilities, as against a high-level vest, the gun fails to deliver.

2. ‘Burst Mode’ feature is one of the standout things of KORD LMG Weapon

This is a very new concept introduced for this gun in the game. This is a feature wherein a gun performs differently when used under a certain position. After the successful inculcation of ‘Advanced Attachments’ for weapons into the game, this is the next thing that Free Fire is seemingly trying out in the hopes to spice the combat up even further and open up scenarios never seen before.

The ‘Burst Mode’ of KORD is activated when the player squats or is prone. The bullets come out in a rush of burst and spread out a bit when fired dealing considerable damage to close-ranged enemies. This new mode actually comes in handy, more so often in close range rather than long-range. Though the accuracy of this mode doesn’t deteriorate much over an increasing range, just the damage gets significantly lowered proportionally to the range.

3. Actual In-Game Performance

It’s a very well-known fact that the stats posted on the official site for the weapons widely differ from the weapons’ actual performances in the game. As such, what we got after analyzing KORD’s real caliber in the game. We did it by entering the training ground and making note of the damage dealt with all the levels of vests and helmets. Below, we have got the stats organized in a detailed table.

No Helmet/No Vest192
Lvl 1 Helmet128
Lvl 1 Vest23
Lvl 2 Helmet105
Lvl 2 Vest17
Lvl 3 Helmet82
Lvl 3 Vest11

Damage Dealt at Close Range by KORD LMG

As it can be seen, this LMG is very stable but its firepower worsens horribly against higher level vests and helmets. A dmg of 17 or below, even at a close range, gives the gun very poor credibility in terms of living up to the official stats. Though, when found an enemy in the open, the gun can prove to be lethal somewhat. With zero armor piercing potential, the gun loses its value even further at long-range battles.

Final Thoughts

KORD as a primary LMG weapon fails to live up to the expectations as one would come to believe after using it in the game. The Burst Mode is a welcome concept to the game but so far, hasn’t really been used much considering the difficulty to use it. This hybrid concept fails the gun in short-range as well as long-range. The zero armor-piercing makes it even harder to be labeled ‘lethal’ at a mid-long range.
