How to unlock Dog Care Hobby in Heartopia
Before you can welcome a dog into your home, you must first reach Developer’s Guild Level 12. And this step alone takes several days, since levelling up the guild requires completing Resident Requests and earning contribution medals consistently.

Once you reach Developer’s Guild Level 12, head to the pet adoption center and speak with Mrs. Joan, the NPC in charge of pets in the game. However, unlocking Dog Care does not stop there. You must exchange a Hobby Expansion Ticket to activate the Dog Caring Hobby.
In addition, Dog Care comes with an important prerequisite. You must first unlock the Cat Care Hobby and complete its tutorial. Only after that will Dog Care appear as an available option. After meeting all these requirements, the Dog Care Hobby becomes available, and you can finally begin your journey as a dog owner.
How to get a Dog in Heartopia
Once you unlock the Dog Care Hobby, adopting your first dog becomes a simple and exciting process. First, return to the adoption center, where you will find three dogs and three cats available for adoption each day.
Importantly, this selection changes daily. So if none of the dogs catch your eye, you can simply come back another day. When you find a dog you want to adopt, approach them and select the adoption option.

At this point, you must pay 500 gold to cover a physical examination. After completing this step, you can name your dog and bring them home immediately. Also, if you ever change your mind about the name, do not worry. Cause Heartopia allows you to rename your dog later.
However, it is worth noting that pets currently cannot be returned or exchanged, so choose carefully. As you continue leveling the Dog Care Hobby, you will unlock the ability to adopt more dogs. Eventually, you can have up to three dogs living in your home, each with their own personality and needs.
How to take care of your Dog in Heartopia
After bringing your dog home, caring for them daily becomes very important to your relationship. Thankfully, Heartopia makes dog care fun, interactive, and rewarding. To begin with, you can monitor your dog’s hunger and energy levels through the Pet app on your in-game watch. This tool helps you keep track of each dog and ensures none of them are neglected.

Here are the main ways to care for your dog:
- Feeding
- Playing
- Training
- Bathing
- Going Out
Doing these activities with your dog increases your bond, and your dog becomes happier and more likely to bring you gifts. Therefore, consistently taking care of your dog and interacting with them is always worth the effort.

Dog breeds and personality traits in Heartopia
Heartopia offers a diverse selection of dog breeds, each with a unique appearance. While the breed does not affect gameplay directly, it plays a big role in how attached a player might be to a particular dog. As you might prefer one breed over the other, it’s important to know what breeds are available before making a decision.
Here are the currently available dog breeds:
- Beagle
- Corgi
- Golden Retriever
- Labrador Retriever
- Poodle
- Rottweiler
- Rural Dog
- Shepherd Dog
- Shiba Inu
- Sled Dog
- Spotted Dog

In addition to breed, every dog has unique eye styles, fur patterns, gender, and, most importantly, two random personality traits. These traits influence the dog’s behavior and what to expect from that particular dog.
Below are some dog personality traits in Heartopia:
| Dog Personality | Description |
|---|---|
| Chatterbox | Barks more frequently than other dogs. |
| Clingy | Follows you closely and may damage furniture. |
| Energetic | Wants to play often and stays very active. |
| Indifferent | Shows neutral behavior overall. |
| Quiet | Rarely makes noise. |
| Sensitive | Picky eater and selective with food. |
| Sluggish | Hunger decreases more slowly, and energy is lower. |
| Sociable | Wants frequent interaction and attention. |
| Naughty | More likely to misbehave or get into trouble. |
| Lone Wolf | Prefers being alone. |
| Unsociable | Requires minimal interaction. |
Although traits affect behavior, they do not prevent players from unlocking more Dog Care levels. That means every dog can learn tricks, build bonds, and reach full potential. Because of this, it is best to choose dogs you genuinely like rather than focusing only on traits.
