KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME Units Tier List: Best Units Ranked
I have prepared this list by categorizing the units into three roles: Attacker, Defender, and Support. To make it simple, I have further divided them into four major tiers: Super Strong (SSS), Strong (S), Good (A), and Average (B).

Do note that in this game, some characters have two variations, like Mina Ashiro, who is a support, while Mina Ashiro (Off the Scale) serves as an attacker. That said, you should experiment with different units and see how they perform. This tier list is based on my experience, so it may differ from yours.
Best Units in KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME
Best Defender Unit – Isao Shinomiya
Isao Shinomiya, the Director General of the Japan Defense Force, who is also known as the strongest soldier the Defense Force has ever seen, is currently the best Defender in-game besides Sagan Shinomiya, of course. He possesses the blunt attribute and excels in healing, defending, and other areas.
With his Indomitable Stronghold passive, Kaiju targets you more if you’ve a shield, plus your allies receive DEF and DMG bonus. His normal attack, Wholehearted Strike, deals Blunt DMG to a single Kaiju, and the Solid Stance skill applies a shield to all allies. For heavier hits, you can use Energy Burst Ultimate and Daikaiju-Empowered Blow follow-up skill to deliver strong Blunt DMG to a single target.
Best Attacker Unit – Gen Narumi
Gen Narumi, who is the Captain of Japan Defense Force’s First Division, is one of the best Attackers in the game right now, if not the best. In the anime, he is Japan’s strongest anti-Kaiju combatant, and that is the same here, too, as someone who has the Slash and Shot attributes.
With his Way of the Strongest Passive, your Ultimate Gauge limit gives you different buffs. If it’s below 50%, you gain SPD, and if it’s higher, you gain a DMG bonus.
You can use his Brilliant Strike normal attack to deal Slash DMG to a single Kaiju, while Eruption Slash combat skill hits a target and adjacent Kaiju with both Slash and Shot DMG. His Slash Salvo ultimate builds up on this with even more DMG, and Skyfall Strike follow-up delivers pure Slash DMG.
Best Support Unit – Soshiro Hoshina
Now, Soshiro Hoshina, although being a 4* character, is hands down the best support right now. He is the vice-captain of the Japan Defense Force’s Third Division and has the Slash attribute. The best part is that you unlock him for free when you unlock the Gacha feature.
His Resourcefulness in a Pinch passive activates after using a Combat Skill or Ultimate. If your SP is low, it grants SPD bonus to your battle buddy, and if it’s at 1 or lower, it boosts their CRIT DMG. With his Swift Slash normal attack, you can deal Slash DMG to one Kaiju.
The Instant Inspiration combat skill is really great, as it gives an ally ST Attack and Blast Attack DMG bonus. If that ally is your battle buddy, it also removes a debuff. Exemplary Swordplay ultimate is great to deal Slash DMG to a single Kaiju, which also grants SPD buff to his buddy, while Instantaneous Slash follow-up delivers Slash DMG.
