Mega Aerodactyl rock-type Mega evolution was the first of its kind in Pokémon Go when it was released back in January this year. Mega Aerodactyl in Pokémon Go
As far as raw attacking power goes, Mega Aerodactyl is one of the strongest DPS in Pokémon Go. It even ranks above Tyranitar, Terrakion, and Rock Wrecker Rhyperior. However, it still cannot beat one of the best heavy hitters of the game, Rampardos. Mega Aerodactyl has an amazing offense along with its high damage, owing to its bulky build.

Being one of the best rock-type powerhouses in Pokémon Go, it might be a bit difficult to defeat this monstrous Pokémon, but it is still doable with a bit of effort. As a Rock and Flying-type, Mega Aerodactyl is susceptible to higher damage from Electric, Ice, Steel, Rock, and Water-type moves.
The strongest move set this Pokémon has is Rock Throw, Rock Slide, and Ancient Power with 16, 35.6, and 24 DPS respectively, and has a CP capped at 4,118. Even though it might be one of the strongest in the game, even this “King of the Skies in Ancient Times” has its weaknesses against certain types as already mentioned above.
Best counters against Mega Aerodactyl in Pokémon Go
Walk into the arena with any of these Pokémon you might have on your team and this should be a win for you if you play your cards right:
- Metagross: Bullet Punch/Meteor Mash
- Rampardos: Smack Down/Rock Slide
- Zekrom: Charge Beam/Wild Charge
- Kyogre: Waterfall/Surf
- Rhyperior: Smack Down/Rock Wrecker
- Empoleon: Metal Claw Steel/Cannon
- Thundurus (Therian): Volt Switch/Thunderbolt
- Dialga: Metal Claw/Iron Head
- Raikou: Thunder Shock/Wild Charge
- Swampert: Water Gun/Hydro Cannon
These are just some of the top ones you can take to fight against the Mega Aerodactyl in Battle Raids but this isn’t all. Any of the types that are compatible with the fight against the Rock and Flying type work well and can get stuff done. The Battle is bound to be tough, so make sure you have strong allies that help you take down the boss easily.
