One of the higher-ranked Mega raid bosses in Pokémon Go, Mega Steelix is a Steel and Ground-type with unusually high attack power. It will need a bit of effort and coordination to be able to defeat this steely monster. Depending on what Pokémon and counters you use, it is recommended to go in with 3-5 trainers if you have leveled up enough or if not, then around 7-10 should be fine. Mega Steelix is a hard-skinned, rocked-up Pokémon and is quite hard to defeat. It is weaker towards FireFightingWater, and Ground-type moves. A varied range of counters can help you take down Mega Steelix with more ease.

Mega Steelix Movesets

Mega Steelix is a Steel and Ground-type Pokémon with weakness against FireFightingWater, and Ground-type moves. The best moves it has are Iron Tail and Earthquake which has one of the highest total DPS (16.4 and 46.7) in Pokémon Go. It has pretty random moves as there is no Ground-type fast move but it has a random Electric fast move.

Here is the list of best counters that you can use against the legendary mega raid boss, Mega Steelix, and guarantee yourself a win.

  • Lucario: Counter/Aura Sphere
  • Landorus (Therian): Mud Shot/Earthquake 
  • Reshiram: Fire Fang/Overheat 
  • Kyogre: Waterfall/Surf 
  • Swampert: Water Gun/Hydro Cannon 
  • Darmanitan: Fire Fang/Overheat 
  • Conkeldurr: Counter/Dynamic Punch  
  • Darmanitan (Standard): Fire Fang/Overheat 
  • Moltres: Fire Spin/Overheat
  • Groudon: Mud Shot/Earthquake 

There are a variety of counters and trainers should have no trouble dealing damage in the Battle Raid with tons of moves. As usual, Shadow Pokémon have not been included in this list as they are very expensive to level up. However, if you do have the resources, go ahead and use the Shadow variants of each as they deal extra damage.
