The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores Beginners Guide

Have spirit, my crew! Tis not a sunk boat that shall stop us from reaching heaven!

The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores is a survival singleplayer RTS that follows The Bonfire: Forsaken lands. For today we bring you a Bonfire 2:Uncharted Shores Beginners Guide on what to pay attention to and how to thrive with your recently built village.

Understanding the basic mechanics

Like all games, Bonfire will require you to gather resources in order to construct, upgrade, and overall progress on the game. The game does not let you build new workers with meat or something like that, so be sure to build things the most efficient way available at the time.

Before anything else, you will want to hop into settings and turn off the autosave. On our test run, sometimes a request from NPC would get stuck and let it use resources over and over. To make matters worse, it would save once it was done.

Cycles and Workforce

The game starts with you having to name your village and choosing where your bonfire will be located. The game cycles between night and day, being day where the workers do their tasks and the night where they rest and eat. At night is also the time where monsters attack, and while being attacked, villagers will run towards the forest, sometimes running through the attacking monsters and sometimes dying.

Since you can’t “build” new workers, be sure to place your bonfire near the forest so you don’t have to deal with your units dying for not having a contingency plan. Also, keep an eye for exclamation points around your bonfire as those usually are villagers trying to join your city. They will be very useful, but they also mean you will need more resources.

Gathering, Evolving, and Stocking

Each villager has specific stats, and that may grant them better roles as workers or guards. You need to divide them and remember they do alternate shifts. While workers work, guards sleep. While guards guard, workers will be asleep. So having one will reduce the number of the other. Moreover, the monsters will get tougher as the game progresses, so be sure to have a good defense.

Always build what is available to build so you don’t miss on an upgrade or a new available building. When constructing new items, don’t forget to equipe them on them respective workers. Each villager has its own stats and perks, and putting the right ones to the right jobs is also essential to the good development of your village.

The mere existance of your villagers will require food for their survival. Add that to the fact that you will need materials like wood and minerals to build and progress and you will have a need for stocking. At some point, you may be tempted to upgrade your existant hunting lodge. But it is a lot more useful to just expand your village with bridges and build another new lodge. Also, there are some resources only available in adjacent parts of the map. Be sure to expand.

Keep an eye on updates!

The game is expected to have some future updates on its adventure paths and history. So, even with us guiding how to make the most of what is already out, you shouldn’t be shy and stay checking the new content with developers. After all, it is your adventure too!
