UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22: The complete Groupwise Fixture analysis

recommended players to transfer in for the upcoming Matchday!

This season’s UCL Group stage has reached its ultimate stage with only a game week to play. Incidentally, 11 teams have already made it through to the Round of 16, with 5 berths still left vacant. Without a doubt, the last game week would see some intense clashes from the contender teams. Fantasy managers too might want to use up their chips within this game week. We, as usual, would be guiding the fantasy managers in shaping their respective squads for this game week. However, this time we would be focusing on each of the 8 groups and look into all the fixtures that might promise decent returns. So do read our UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 guide till the end to know about our must recommendations and differential suggestions from each of the eight groups.

UCL Fantasy Matchday 6: Group analysis and recommended players

Group A current scenario

The confirmed group toppers are Manchester City, while PSG would finish second. The spot for the Europa League is still open with Brugge and Leipzig being the contenders. This week, Leipzig would be facing Manchester City and Brugge play PSG. Whoever gets the better result, gains the Europa League place. However, in case both of their results match, RB Leipzig would make it due to better H2H numbers. Managers can choose players from this group after looking at the official lineups since both the fixtures have an early kickoff.

Popular Choice: C. Nkunku – RB Leipzig vs Manchester City

The highest UCL fantasy points collector with 57, has one more job to do in this campaign. A win against group leaders Manchester City would surely send his team to Europa League’s Preliminary knockout round. The €8.2m Frenchman has netted the ball home 7 times already in this year’s UCL campaign.

Christopher Nkunku UCL fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: C. Nkunku

There should be no questions about his guarantee to start, looking at the importance of the fixture to the team. His UCL xG of 2.7 is better than any of his teammates, and there are very few reasons why he should not be a must-have for this week. Even when his team lost this weekend to Union Berlin, Nkunku managed to score.

Differential choice: R. Mahrez – Manchester City vs RB Leipzig

Manchester City has already confirmed their knockouts qualifications as group leaders. The return leg with their next opponents ended with a scoreline of 6-3 to their favour. Now having secured qualifications, Pep might not field his first-team players. However, Riyad Mahrez (€9.3m), who gets very few Premier League minutes might still start this fixture.

Riyad Mahrez Fantasy Watchlist Differential
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: R. Mahrez

Only 4% of fantasy managers own the Algerian, who has bagged 33 fantasy points to date, has netted 4 goals, out of which 2 were penalties. The midfielder, with an xG of 3.7 and 0.87 per 90 minutes, can prove to be a very good differential choice for managers.

Group B current scenario

English giants Liverpool became confirmed group toppers in game week 4 itself. Their final fixture would be against European rivals AC Milan, whom they beat 3-2 in the return leg.
2nd spot is still open for either Milan, Porto, or Atletico. If Porto wins vs Atletico, Porto qualify, regardless of other results from this group.

Popular Choice: M. Salah – Liverpool vs AC Milan

Who else can be a more popular choice from Group B, other than Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah? He is an obvious choice for both FPL and UCL fantasy managers. He is breaking records in FPL, no doubt, however, in Fantasy CL too, he has thus far collected 45 points, averaging 9 points per game. Salah is the most owned player from this group with 35% ownership.

Salah UCL Fantasy FPL
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: M. Salah

Questions may arise about his chances to start, to which Klopp’s comment that the remaining group games would be equally crucial for the team, might be the answer. Liverpool also lacks quality right-wing alternatives. Hence the €10.8m Egyptian MID should be a must-have in the fantasy squads, given that Liverpool have qualified, and fantasy managers would have one man less to transfer out from their squad, going into the RO16. FPL fans know Salah ‘just cannot blank’

Differential choice: L. Diaz – FC Porto vs Atletico Madrid

To simplify the equations, Porto needs to win this match. For this, they would be looking at either of Taremi or their in form Colombian, Luis Diaz. The €7.9m FWD from Porto is owned by only 1% of fantasy managers and gathered a total of 22 points.

Luis Diaz UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: Luis Diaz

However, considering his domestic form, and other top European clubs scouting him, he might be considered a differential choice from this group. Fantasy managers can anticipate decent returns from a player with 12 goals and 2 assists across all competitions.

Group C current scenario

A group where everything is pretty much settled. Ajax is the group toppers and Sporting CP are runners-up. Borussia Dortmund, who missed their main man Haaland during the crucial period of the group stage, would have to play Europa League Preliminary knockouts in 2022. Confirmed. Besiktas are eliminated.

Back from injury, the Norwegian goal machine would be an unfortunate victim of circumstances as he would have to play Europa League knockouts next year. However, since returning from his injury, Haaland has been in his recognized able form. Haaland’s stats need no elaboration.

Erling Haaland UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation : E. Haaland

Since Dortmund has nothing to lose from here on, expect a Haaland show against an eliminated Besiktas team. Although around 25% of managers own the €11m forward, in case you don’t own him, try avoiding transferring him in unless you are using a limitless chip. However, in the case of an activated Limitless, there would be no better option than him this game week, for any fantasy squad.

Differential Choice: P. Goncalves – Sporting CP vs Ajax

Coming into this game week with consecutive 18 point hauls, the €8.1m Portuguese MID might turn out to be an effective differential. With around 1% ownership, the Sporting CP youngster has the best stats within his team. Now although his team faces an in-form Ajax side, who have already achieved the top spot in the group, you may expect a goalscoring match this time out from Sporting’s side, with Goncalves coring or assisting a few maybe.

Pedro Goncalves UCL fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: P. Goncalves

He notably has accumulated 42 points in 3 games! This weekend he assisted a goal against Benfica in the Portuguese league.

Group D current scenario

Everything looks to be settled in this group except the top position with Real Madrid and Inter Milan being the contenders. The final group game between these two decides the final positions in this group. Sheriff after a fairytale start to their maiden UCL campaign would play Europa League RO32 next year, after finishing third. Shakhtar is eliminated.

Popular Choice: Vinicius Jr. – Real Madrid vs Inter Milan

For many managers, Karim Benzema would be a no-brainer at the moment, but we would want to recommend some asset that is a bit less popular, yet has been effective. With around 15% ownership, Vinicius Jr. is the 2nd most selected Real Madrid player now.

Vinicius Junior UCL Fantasy-
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: Vinicius Jr.

Interestingly, he has an equal amount of goal involvement in the group stage this season, like Benzema, and has accumulated 32 points so far. The €8.5m Brazilian wingers may prove to be an important part of the game against Internazionale, which decides this group’s table toppers. He also scored a goal this weekend against Real Sociedad.

Differential Choice: E. Dzeko – Inter Milan vs Real Madrid

The €7.9m Bosnian FWD with 2% ownership, has had the most open play goals for his club across all competitions with 11. His current tally of 27 points, comparatively lower price, 3.9 xG, and 0.91 xG per 90 in the UCL are what make him a decent differential choice.

Edin Dzeko UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: E. Dzeko

Also, the importance of the fixture in determining the 1st position adds a bit of pressure on the team’s frontline, given that he just scored this weekend against Roma.

Group E current scenario

Bayern has qualified on matchday 4 and as the group winners. The 2nd place is still open between Benfica and Barcelona to grab for. Now, both the remaining matchday 6 matches from this group would be vital, Barcelona need to win against Bayern for qualification. Benfica needs to win against Kyiv for qualification, and hope Barcelona drops points against Bayern. Kyiv, however, is eliminated.

Popular Choice: N. Otamendi – SL Benfica vs Dynamo Kyiv

Though it may seem a bit strange, Otamendi is the 3rd highest points collector from this group, after Lewandowski and Sane. With 33 points up in his bag and 4% overall ownership, Otamendi might be a decent addition to the fantasy squads. His main source of points is from 37 ball recoveries and 3 cleansheets.

Nicolas Otamendi UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: N. Otamendi

With a struggling Dynamo Kyiv up next, fantasy managers can expect Otamendi to deliver what he has been doing thus far this season in this match too. The €5m Argentinian defender kept a cleansheet against this opposition on the first game week and was the player of the match. If not Otamendi, fantasy managers may also go for Benfica goalie O. Vlachodimos.

Differential Choice: D. Nunez – SL Benfica vs Dynamo Kyiv

The Uruguayan teenager has grabbed the attention of other top European clubs, and for a reason. The €7.6m FWD is owned by only 1% of fantasy managers, despite being Benfica’s main goal contributor across all competitions this season. With the seriousness of the fixture, there shouldn’t be any questions regarding his guarantee to feature.

Darwin Nunez UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: Darwin Nunez

Notably, in spite of his relatively fewer minutes in both the domestic league and UCL, he has more goal contributions than any other of his teammates,13 goals across all competitions.

Group F current scenario

Manchester United are confirmed as leaders from this group. The match between Villarreal and Atalanta would decide the 2nd position in this group. Young Boys are eliminated from UCL, but still stand a chance for Europa League qualification, in case they beat Manchester United, which they did on matchday 1.

Popular Choice: A. Danjuma – Villarreal vs Atalanta

As said earlier, things in this group would be resolved with the final face-off between Villareal and Atalanta. Coming for just €6.6m and selected by 3% of fantasy managers, the Netherlands international can be a cheap, yet effective alternative for fantasy squads. The Villareal wing-forward has an xG of 5.8 in La Liga, where he has 7 goal contributions in 12 games. In UCL too, he has 2 goals and 2 assists so far, which helped him accumulate 29 points as of yet.

Arnaut Danjuma UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: A. Danjuma

He also has been the most effective MID after Bruno Fernandes from this group in UCL Fantasy’s perspective. The UCL Fantasy algorithm has predicted Danjuma to score somewhere near 9 points this week.

Differential Choice: R. Freuler – Atalanta vs Villareal

Similar to Villareal, their opponents Atalanta too need a win to seal knockouts qualification. Gasperini’s men have scored at least twice in 4 out of 5 fixtures in this group and can be expected to do the same against the Spanish team in their own ground at Bergamo. The €6.6m Swiss MID is not only Atalanta’s most chosen midfielder but also their highest point-getter in that department.

Remo Freuler UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: R. Freuler

He has gifted the 2% of managers that own him, with 25 points so far. Besides goal contributions, managers can expect ball recovery points from him too. He found the net this weekend against an in-form Napoli team in Serie A.

Group G current scenario

Perhaps the most open group going into the final game week, with all the 4 teams eligible for qualifying.
Lille has a guaranteed Europa League berth to the least, other 3 teams have no such guarantee as of yet. This week, Salzburg plays Sevilla, and the winner gets qualification. A draw might just be enough for Salzburg, not for Sevilla, but the former has to depend upon the result of the other fixture from this group.

Wolfsburg needs to win against Lille to stand any chance for qualification. There are so many complications in this group going into the final round of group games. However, fantasy managers and neutral fans just need to know that both the fixtures would decide the knockouts participants, with all 4 teams still eligible.

Popular Choice: K. Adeyemi – Salzburg vs Sevilla

This German youngster has long grabbed the attention of football freaks. The reverse fixture against this opposition saw 3 penalties being won by this guy himself, although he missed one of them. Adeyemi is the most popular forward from this group, and rightly so since he has returned the 9% owners with 33 points in total.

Karim Adeyemi UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: K. Adeyemi

With Salzburg going into a must-win game in their home ground against Sevilla, Adeyemi would have to take the responsibility of goal contributions. having scored 3 UCL goals already, the €7.7m FWD would look out to rack up a few more vital goals, with his 0.86 xG per 90 in the UCL.

Differential Choice: I. Grbic – Lille vs Wolfsburg

A rare suggestion of a goalkeeper, but why not? The Croatian shot-stopper of the French champions has kept 3 clean sheets in 5 games in the UCL. The €5m GK has been the best from this group from fantasy’s perspective, in his own position, with 22 points collected. Lille’s next game is against Wolfsburg who have really struggled to score goals in the UCL this season, and though their opponent must win this fixture, so do Lille themselves.

Ivo Grbic UCL Fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: I. Grbic

Hence, anticipate decent returns from the goalie this week, whom, the UCL fantasy algorithm has projected to collect 5.6 points this week.

Group H current scenario

Chelsea and Juventus have qualified. They are on equal points and Chelsea just needs to match Juve’s final matchday result or achieve a better result than them, to become group toppers. Zenit has qualified for the Europa League, and Malmo is eliminated without a single win.

Popular Choice: A. Rudiger – Chelsea vs Zenit

Despite losing this weekend against West Ham, Chelsea’s defense has been extraordinarily solid in both the Premier League and UCL, conceding only once, to Juventus. In their last group game, Chelsea might not take any chances, and win against Zenit, so as to confirm their top spot in the group. It is of course understandable that the top 3 defenders from this group, are Chelsea’s 3 center-backs. Rudiger and his CB partner both tie at getting 33 points so far.

Antonio Rudiger FPL Watchlist
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: A. Rudiger

However, besides their goalie Mendy, Rudiger is the one who has started all games for Chelsea in PL and UCL. Besides, with 16% ownership, Rudiger easily makes himself a must-have Chelsea asset for this week.

Differential Choice: P. Dybala – Juventus vs Malmo

The Argentinian FWD who comes for €9.2m is owned by just 2% of fantasy managers. Despite Juve’s poor form at home, this week’s UCL fixture seems favorable for them. Surprisingly, Dybala has the best points tally among all forwards from this group with 26 points.

Paulo Dybala UCL fantasy
UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 2021/22 Recommendation: P. Dybala

Now, with the necessity for his team to win this fixture somehow, to stand any chance to top this group, expect Dybala to shine this weak against an underdog Malmo’s side. Besides, the UCL fantasy algorithm expects a projected 7.5 points from him this week.
