Arena of Valor has always been a popular mobile MOBA game around the globe. For the 5th anniversary, the Arena of Valor developers at Tencent and Garena is bringing in some major changes to the game with its Anniversary Update. They are rebranding the game to Arena of Valor 4.0. Here is everything one needs to know about the all-new Arena of Valor 4.0 Update. We will be talking about the release date, map changes, UI changes, new ranking system, ban and pick phase and more.
Arena of Valor Battlefield 4.0: Release date
An official release date has not yet been announced by Tencent and Garena for Arena of Valor 4.0. The update is already live in Taiwan. However, it has not been announced when the update will come alive for the rest of the world.
Arena of Valor 4.0 Update: Map Rework
In this update, the devs are refining the battlefield with the introduction of PBR 2.0. The AoV 4.0 battlefield looks more exciting and fresher. The battlefield 4.0 coming with this update is aimed to be greeting players with epic monsters, stylish environments and seasoned gameplay. Many details have been reworked and changed in the game’s playing environment.
The most noticeable change in the AoV 4.0 Battlefield map is the day-night system. Players will now experience the shift from day to night on the battlefield. Lanes will become exponentially more challenging at night making minions stronger at night. It will also afford greater growth to players. Players will gain more experience and gold during nightfall. The AoV 4.0 Update will also be bringing new environments and features while refreshing the buildings, grounds and rivers for better visuals. Along with the quality updates, the laning experience has also been improved with adjusted brush and defence tower positions.
Additionally, the update will relocate the Spirit Sentinel on the map’s river along the Dark Slayer lane. This will allow players to have more control in the slayer lane and skirmishes will also be more interesting.
Abyssal Dragon and Dark Slayer Rework
The appearance of the two most powerful neutral monsters in AoV, Abyssal Dragon and the Dark Slayer has been reworked to make them look more active and appealing to players. This is supposed to further emphasize the contrast between the light and dark forces in the game bringing out the agility of the Abyssal dragon and the might of the Dark Slayer.
The Abyssal Dragon will be rise from the light with a golden and white colour scheme. It also has a more distinct look than its old version with curved golden horns, a fresh set of wings, and what seems to be a floating orb on its back.
Whereas, the Dark Slayer will have a more ferocious and defined form with a pair of white horns and purple glowing eyes. This purple-black colour scheme bears a strong resemblance to the Storm Dragon from Honor of Kings, AoV’s Chinese predecessor.
Meanwhile, during mid-game or the 15-minute mark, the Abyssal Dragon will evolve into Holy Dragon while the Slayer will become Dark Slayer. Killing both monsters will grant teams new buffs.
Arena of Valor 4.0: User Interface upgrade
UI 4.0 continues in the direction that AoV 3.0 took. The AoV 4.0 will introduce a cleaner, simpler user interface (UI) and menu to all players. The update will declutter the current UI, making it more lightweight with concise smooth and user-friendly functions which was the main goal behind this optimization. For UI 4.0 update, the devs have adopted a more concise design language with a brighter and clearer UI. This has also reduced irrelevant decorative elements to highlight relevant information and avoid confusion. To improve controls and enhance the players’ sense of immersion, a lightweight design has been added along with a one-shot animation form for transitions to make the game more immersive.
Battlefield Update
In the current Arena of Valor meta, junglers can just enter a lane and swoop in all the gold and experience from other players, causing an imbalance in shared resources. The AoV 4.0 update will be bringing a new effect “Teamwork” which will grant junglers only 40% gold and experience near their teammates. This effect will force junglers to be nicer to their teammates.
The losing team’s comeback mechanic has also been optimized. Shutting down an enemy-killing streak will also give players a small gold reward to give more chances to the losing team to make an epic comeback.
The shield’s damage feedback has also been optimized which now displays a grey number after receiving damage. So now players can confirm that they are hitting the enemy.
Game system Optimizations
New rank
Earning extra stars is not that rewarding. Reaching the Glorious ruler rank might be too much of a grind for some players. So, in order to keep everyone engaged and have a great sense of purpose, Arena of Valor has added a new rank.
The new Arena of Valor rank, Supreme Conqueror will be available in the upcoming AoV 4.0 update. After collecting 50 stars in the Conqueror rank, players will be promoted to Supreme Conqueror.
Optimized Ban pick process
The Battlefield update has also reworked the ban and pick phase. A new segment has been added where players can now communicate their hero preferences more conveniently. Due to the increasing number of heroes in the game, players can now ban a total of six different heroes on both sides.
Increased Brave Point cap
Additionally, the cap of Brave Points at different tiers has been increased from three to five times to prevent star reduction in ranked games. This system rewards players with Brave Points, which accumulates to a star to rank up.
Different Ranks can queue together
In update 4.0, the lobby has been divided into two initial tiers. In this system rework, players can create rooms and invite players of two different ranks in this update. For example, Diamond players can create a room and invite both high-ranked Conqueror players and low-ranked Gold players to come and queue up together.
