Clash Royale February 2022 balance changes update patch notes

Prince and the Dark Prince get buffed.

Sticking to their usual schedule Supercell, the Clash Royale developers have brought in the routine (February 2022) balance changes to the game as of today.

The changes are made based on community feedback and overall analysis of the game to balance overpowered cards and make the shunned cards more appealing to use by an average player. Here we will look at the changes which have been implemented after the balance update.

Clash Royale February 2022 balance changes update patch notes

1. Golden Knight (nerf)

One of the newly added Heroes, the Golden Knight has seen an immediate spike in usage owing to his overpowered dash in the offense. His ability cooldown has been increased to 11 seconds from 8 seconds and dash range has been reduced to 5 from 6.

2. Archer Queen (nerf)

Just like her other Hero counterpart, the Golden Knight, the Archer Queen has seen extensive use in the higher arenas due to her ability boost. To balance that, her movement speed has been reduced from medium to slow.

3. Mini P.E.K.K.A (buff)

A fan-favorite card used widely due to its high damage has seen a decline recently owing to the emergence of the Hog Rider meta. To make the Mini P.E.K.K.A more competitive, its hit rate has been increased by 6%.

4. Hunter (buff)

The hunter hasn’t seen much spotlight due to his inconsistent performances in both offense and defense. To make him up to par, his first hit speed has been increased by 11%.

5. Musketeer (buff)

Once the go-to card to counter air threats, the Musketeer has seen a drop in action after the arrival of the more versatile Magic Archer. Therefore her hit speed has been ramped up by 9% as a boost.

6. Giant (buff)

A favorite in the lower arenas, the Giant loses relevance as one level up and passes the higher arenas. To keep up with the meta, his hitpoints have been increased by 4%.

7. Inferno Tower (buff)

When compared to the other buildings such as the Hidden Tesla, Cannon, and Bomb Tower, the Inferno Tower lags behind. To make it more viable, its first hit speed has been increased by 25% enabling it to charge up and switch targets faster.

8. Royal Hogs (nerf)

These little creatures have been a menace ever since their last buff and have been wreaking havoc against players with heavy decks. To counter this, their damage has been reduced by 3%.

9. Balloon (adjustment)

The balloon has always been one of the most punishing troops in the arena and the developers have come to the conclusion that it needs to be fairer for the defending player. Owing to it, 2 balance changes have been made, that is, a 33% increase in hit speed and a 33% decrease in damage.

10. Ram Rider (bug fix)

The Ram Rider’s Bola Snare has been slowing down the spawn speed of spawner troops such as the Witch and Night Witch without the developers planning it to be that way. This bug has been fixed in this update.

11. Prince and Dark Prince (new ability)

The Prince and Dark Prince have now been granted the ability to jump across the river in the middle of the Arena, thus providing for more dynamic gameplay. To balance this change, the Prince’s health has been reduced by 4% while the Dark Prince’s has been reduced by 3%.

Final Thoughts

As always, with the updates rolling in we might see a shift in the meta developed by adapting to the changes. In this particular update, the buff of the Prince and the Dark Prince might be the next big thing and a dual prince charge meta might come back.

Otherwise, this has been a pretty good update, although the Hog Rider could’ve been a contender for getting nerfed. Over time the necessary changes will be apparent and we can hope that they are fixed in the coming days.
