If I go ahead and say that Smart Assist has been the most controversial feature in eFootball 2026, I know most of the players will agree on it. Pretty out-of-the-box feature for me, but many want to understand what exactly this is, and how it works. This guide is to list out every little detail on what this feature is and the advantages of it.
What is Smart Assist in eFootball 2026
Smart Assist is a gameplay setting that helps you handle some game elements, more like a fix on your inputs. Instead of needing perfect timing for a particular action or accuracy, this AI gives you a bit of support based on what’s happening on the pitch.

You do any action, say a low pass, if the AI thinks this isn’t the right option, it automatically adjusts it into a lofted chip. The same goes for other aspects. The automation of the game, where you don’t need to worry about your mistakes, is what makes Smart Assist a strong addition.
When you’re attacking, Smart Assist helps with dribbling, passing, and shooting. While dribbling, it also helps guide your movement. Defending is where it brings its best. You can turn this setting on by Extras > Game Settings > Play Settings > Smart Assist.
Advantages of Smart Assist in eFootball 2026
Smart Assist’s advantages are plenty, with AI helping us with so many aspects.
Attacking advantages
In attack, the biggest advantage is dribbling. Smart Assist makes it easier to carry the ball in tight spaces and helps keep it in play, especially when dribbling along the touchline. Passing also becomes more reliable, as the game assists in finding open teammates and automatically adjusts pass commands based on the best available option.
Shooting is also more forgiving. You don’t have to stress about getting the perfect power or angle every time, especially inside the box; it will adjust automatically. When you go for a normal shot, the game can automatically turn it into a stunning shot, giving you the best possible chance of scoring.
Defending advantages
Defensively, Smart Assist works the best, as it is the toughest aspect of the game currently. Automatic clearances help you get out of danger when things go wrong near your goal. Match-up defending feels more stable, as your defender stays in front of the attacker instead of overcommitting or stepping out of position.
Final Thoughts
Smart Assist is a useful feature for beginners and definitely helps in covering up mistakes. However, its presence in PvP matches leaves a sour taste. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on that aspect in a separate article, as this one strictly focuses on the gameplay features.
