Garena shuts down Free Fire clone Sigma Battle Royale

Sigma Battle Royale looks insanely similar to Free Fire

Sigma Battle Royale in recent days has been the most talked about topic amongst battle royale fans. This is happening because the game looks awfully similar to Garena‘s Free Fire. However, in the recent term of events, Garena has forcefully shut down the Free Fire clone, Sigma from the Google Play store.

Free Fire was released in 2017 as a low-end substitute for PUBG Mobile. The same cycle appears to be repeating itself because since its launch the total size of the Free Fire has only increased, which made it harder for lower-end devices with two GB of RAM to run the game. And this is where Studio Arm Private Limited tried to bank on its low-end battle royale title.

Sigma battle royale was being treated as Free Fire lite

Sigma Battle Royale with very similar graphics to Free Fire offered a low-end option to gamers with low-end devices. The game because of its insanely similar mechanisms to Free Fire was an instant hit upon its arrival on the play store. Free Fire influencers like Aura Gaming also termed it as Free Fire lite looking at the growth of this game in the community. However, this success was shortlived and the game ended up being delisted from the Play store.

The game was removed from the play store because it looked way too similar to Free Fire, hence violating the Google Play Store community guidelines. This made Google completely delist the game from Playstore.

Upon its release, the game managed to accumulate over 600 thousand downloads within a short span of time. This made people discover the game, which also ultimately led to its dismissal from the Playstore

Servers have been closed for Sigma Battle Royale

Sigma Battle Royale was launched in its open beta test version which saw players downloading and liking the game as a low-end substitute for Free Fire. On December 2nd servers for the game were officially closed. All the current players having Sigma Battle Royale as a game on their devices won’t be able to access the game now.

When will the game launch again is not known and whether will it even come back altogether is still unknown. The chances of the game being listed back on the Play Store are pretty slim as we have had the experience of Area F2 (Rainbow Six clone) and Combat Master (COD Modern Warfare copy).
