THQ Nordic has announced that their award-winning action RPG, Gothic Classic, is set to launch on iOS and consoles later this year. Originally developed by Piranha Bytes, the game first ported to Switch in 2023. It is part of the classic franchise Gothic, which is now celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Gothic Classic is one of those revolutionary RPGs that has influenced a variety of games we enjoy today. For those unaware, this is actually a full remake of the original title which released back in 2001 and comes with updates visuals and immersive design. The team is also working on Gothic 1 Remake.
So, the story takes place in the Kingdom of Myrtana, which is invaded by relentless orcs. And things further went wrong in the Khorinis mines when magic spiralled out of control under King Rhobar II’s order, turning the mine into a lawless zone ruled by prisoners. Here, you step in as the Nameless Hero.
You can battle various criminals and beasts with the revamped combat system
Your main goal is to survive while navigating volatile alliances between three rival factions, all with the hopes of escaping the Colony trapped under a magical barrier. And, the game is actually fun especially with the reworked combat system, letting you face wild beasts, creatures, and ruthless criminals.
Honestly, I never got a chance to play the original since I was a kid back then, and I also didn’t have a Switch to try the port. So for me at least, this feels like a solid chance to enjoy the whole experience. Plus, this port looks promising with optimized touch controls, old-school nostalgic visuals, and more.
Gothic Classic is launching on iOS and consoles later this year. The game is yet to be listed on the App Store, so stay tuned for more updates!
