The Undead are moving about! The eleventh playable class, the Death Knight, joins the Tavern today with the launch of the most recent expansion, March of the Lich King in Hearthstone. The Death Knight prologue traces Arthas Menethil’s development into the legendary Warcraft villain, the Lich King.
The March of the Lich King expansion adds 203 brand-new cards, including the new Death Knight class, Undead minion type, and Manathirst keyword, giving players the most diverse gameplay and deckbuilding options yet for Hearthstone.
March of the Lich King expansion brings a new class and events in Hearthstone
New Class: Death Knight
- 32 free Core Set cards are among the 68 new class cards, and there is also a special Path of Arthas package (24.99).
- Hero Power: Ghoul Charge
Bring forth a 1/1 Charged Ghoul that perishes at the end of the turn.
- New Resource: Corpses
When a friendly minion dies, its corpse counts.
- Deckbuilding System: Runes
- Blood with health manipulation for gameplay control.
- Frost: Use frost for direct damage with icy spells.
- Unholy: Unholy for Swarms of minions that are across the board.
New Expansion: March of the Lich King
- New Minion Type: Undead
Numerous minions from earlier expansions have been changed to have the Undead minion type.
- New Keyword: Manathirst
- When you have enough mana crystals to cause the effect, cards gain extra powers.
- The bonus effect can be activated with enough available mana crystals.
March of the Lich King Expansion: Special Events
The two-week-long Death Knight Launch event starts today and will be live. Players need to complete daily Event Quests in order to gain Event XP on a unique Event reward track. Additionally, players also need to keep an eye out for a Winter Veil Event coming up soon!
