- Sony and Tencent reach a confidential settlement, abruptly ending the Horizon copyright lawsuit.
- Light of Motiram disappears from Steam and Epic Games Store without any public explanation.
- What once looked delayed till 2028 now appears completely shut down, but the official website remains.
Just days ago, it felt like Light of Motiram was simply stuck in legal limbo until 2028. Now, the story has advanced faster than expected. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Tencent Games have quietly ended their legal battle, and the open-world survival game has all but vanished from public view.
The case is dismissed permanently, which might close the door on the Light of Motiram’s release plans
As per reports, the two companies reached a “confidential resolution,” leading to the case being dismissed with prejudice, meaning this lawsuit is officially over and cannot be reopened.
In a statement to The Verge, Sean Durkin, Head of Communications for Tencent Americas, shared: “SIE and Tencent are pleased to have reached a confidential resolution and will have no further public comment on this matter.”

The most immediate impact for you is simple to see. Light of Motiram is no longer listed on Steam or the Epic Games Store. While the game’s official website is still open and shows store links, when you click on the Steam link, it will redirect to the Steam homepage instead of the game.
Sony originally filed the lawsuit in July, arguing that Light of Motiram copied too much from the Horizon series, from its world design to its red-haired protagonist being used heavily in promotional material. Given how intense the dispute had become just weeks ago, this ending was a surprise.
Both companies were preparing for a major court hearing in January 2026, and Tencent had already agreed to freeze promotion and testing. Many believed the game was simply delayed until late 2027 or 2028. Instead, the legal fight ended abruptly, without details revealed to the public.

If you were waiting for Light of Motiram to release, or maybe planned to wait till 2028, well, this settlement makes one thing clear: the future is no longer guaranteed, and the game may never see the light at all. Even if it does, the premise and assets surely need a “non-inspired” revamp.
