Kodansha has announced its upcoming strategy adventure title, MOCHI-O, scheduled to launch on Android, iOS, and PC this year. Developed by Zxima, known for Parasite Days, Catastrophe Restaurant, and more, the exact release date for this indie title is yet to be announced.
Hold your cute hamster-looking weapon and defeat waves of enemies
MOCHI-O is a casual homeland defense adventure set in a tender, post-apocalyptic world. In this game, you will pet and raise MOCHI-O, a cute, hamster-like weapon of annihilation, to fend off waves of enemies, while adventuring through a tender, ruined landscape.
I am really excited for this one! The game lets you hold MOCHI-O in your right hand, aim at enemies, and attack, similar to those classic arcade light gun games, though no light gun is needed here. It is giving me a nostalgia of Duck Hunt, which I played a lot as a kid using a light gun controller.
Collect seeds, unlock skills, and boost your hamster-like weapon’s stats
Additionally, defeated enemies drop seeds, and collecting them earns you experience, which unlocks skills from random choices. You can also use the money earned in your battles to enhance your MOCHI-O. I am eager to unlock all the weapons, level up MOCHI-O’s trust, and boost its stats by feeding seeds.
The game looks promising, from heartwarming dialogue between the characters to handheld destruction, throwing seeds to grow MOCHI-O, defense shooter gameplay, retro visuals, various skills, and even a running wheel. I am going to give it a try once it launches.
