Experience a twisted pet simulation with a personality test

Black Mirror: Thronglets is a retro virtual pet simulation title, created in the 90s as an experimental project by Tuckersoft programmer, Colin Ritman. However, this isn’t just an average sim, it’s more of a twisted Tamagotchi that gradually becomes a physiological experiment on human behavior.

Set in the same universe as Black Mirror’s iconic Bandersnatch, Thronglets plays a central role in the new episode, Plaything. Your objective is to hatch, evolve, and care for hundreds of adorable little creatures called Thronglets. But as you progress, the experience takes a darker, more sinister turn.

That being said, I am excited to feed, bathe, and entertain them, and watch them multiply, until I have created, what’s called a Throng. But, it’s more than taking care of them, as beneath the surface, you get to explore deeper into human nature and the consequences of our digital obsessions.

Similar to the show, Thronglets can break the fourth wall and communicate with you

The sim evolves along with your creatures, and new tools, such as pickaxes, chainsaws, special abilities, items, buildings, and more, become available. Plus, these creatures love to learn, occasionally even surprising you, as they start breaking the fourth wall and interacting directly with you, asking questions.

The game is pretty interesting and dark at the same time, as the builds an unsettling climax, you’ll be given a shareable personality test. By building a Throng, you can unlock hidden video fragments from the Ritman Retrospective, including rare clips from interviews between Colin Ritman and TuckerSoft‘s head, Mohan Thakur.

Black Mirror: Thronglets is now available on both Android and iOS. You can download the game via the Google Play Store or the App Store. However, make sure you have an active Netflix Membership.
