Mobile gaming became the most accessible form of video gaming over the past few years as more users around the world started getting access to smartphones. This led to the formation and growth of a large number of mobile games development studios who capitalized on the rise of mobile gaming with titles that require a much faster development time-span as compared to a typical PC or console game. In fact, a number of game development studios, who previously focused on PC and console titles, are either coming with new mobile games or mobile versions of PC and console games. It seems that Riot Games is planning something similar with their League of Legends universe as they are teasing the possibility of future mobile games based on the same.
League of Legends universe is getting bigger
Riot Games Inc is a popular American video game development and publishing company, known primarily for its flagship game, League of Legends. The company has already expanded it’s League of Legends universe with mobile games such as League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.
It seems like they want to further expand the universe across different genres of video gaming. In a series of poll based questions, Riot Games have asked their player base as to whether they would be interested in a variety of mobile games based on the League of Legends universe.
Riot’s apparent plans for new mobile games
Seeing the hype based around the recently popular Among Us, Riot Games have asked whether players would purchase a similar social deduction game if it were to feature locations and characters from the League of Legends universe. In another question, they have asked the same but this time about a 2D platformer action game where players can use time-manipulating abilities along with traditional parkour and action. They have also asked players about their interest regarding a third-person turn-based RPG based on the League of Legends universe. Riot Games have stated that all of these plans are for Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets.
If Riot is taking player feedback about potential mobile games, it means they are already planning something. We can assume that their plans will largely depend on the kind of feedback they receive. If the polls are largely positive, it is pretty obvious that they are going to go ahead with the development of those titles. The League universe is slowly expanding and it will expand across the genres mentioned in their polls depending on player feedback. While we do not have any clue as to how long we have to wait for another mobile game based on the League of Legends universe, the only thing we can do now is let Riot Games know about our opinion through their polls.
