Nintendo updates tailor made!

Story Highlights
  • Nintendo Today! is now available on Android and iOS, offering daily news, game updates, and exclusive content.
  • This app was announced during the Nintendo Direct event held on March 27, 2025.

Nintendo has confirmed the launch of a new app in Nintendo Today!, a free mobile-focused app designed to keep fans in the loop with everything Nintendo. It’s available now on Android and iOS and will offer daily updates on news, game releases, and even fun extras like videos and comic strips.

Nintendo Today! will provide updates, an animated calendar, and event schedules following launch

Announced during the Nintendo Direct event held on the 27th of March 2025, the app is smartphone-oriented and designed to provide “direct” news to its audience, something that Nintendo has been following over the years.

One of the nice features is the animated calendar, which changes themes based on Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing. There’s also an event schedule option that keeps track of Nintendo Direct presentations, game launches, and in-game events.

You can even filter events by category or specific games, and the content is personalized based on what you like, so you stay connected with your favorite Nintendo games. A customizable home screen widget is also part of the app, you can adjust it however you want to.

Following its launch, Nintendo Today! is now available on both Android and iOS devices, which you can download from either the Google Play Store or the App Store, depending on the OS you use. The app is free to download. I noticed that it isn’t available in some regions yet, so wait for the complete rollout.

This move aligns with Nintendo’s commitment to mobile gaming to expand the reach of its IPs and characters, as confirmed by President Shuntaro Furukawa last month. Mobile is a space many big names want to tap into, and this is one step ahead for Nintendo. A win for us, mobile users.
