Plague Inc. The Cure update: Get the feeling of fighting a global pandemic

Ready to fight the pandemic?

Miniclip has added an interesting update to the popular simulation game Plague Inc. named The Cure, where players will try to save the world from a global pandemic rather than trying to end humanity by spreading infection. At a time when the world is fighting with one of the deadliest pandemics ever, the COVID-19 pandemic, the devs decided to turn the script on its head in order to add more popularity to the game by making it extremely relatable.

About Plague Inc: The Cure update

The new game mode will see players hunting the disease by sending research teams across the globe in search of patient zero. Players also need to track down the spread of the outbreak, boost testing capacity and support local responses.

Of course, players will need to try and control the outbreak as much they can. Players will have various measures at their disposal including contact tracing, lockdowns and border closures. Additionally, they’ll need to encourage people to wash their hands and prepare hospitals for the increased volume of patients. Extremely relatable at this point, isn’t it?

Additionally,  players need to support the economy by using furlough schemes and other policies to ensure people comply with their quarantine measures. The final step will be to develop a vaccine by researching, manufacturing and distributing it.

The devs teamed up with health experts from different parts of the world to make the game as advanced and relatable as they could.

Plague Inc: The Cure is an engaging and timely simulation which lets players explore the issues that humanity faces when trying to stop a global pandemic. It was extremely challenging to fit such a complex topic into a game but the input that experts from CEPI and elsewhere provided has been invaluable in ensuring that Plague Inc: The Cure is both educational and engaging.

Plague Inc: The Cure will be free for all Plague Inc. players until COVID-19 is under control. The game is free on Android, while it costs $0.99 on iOS. If you want to experience what stopping a pandemic and fighting against it feels like in this tough situation, make sure to try it out! Don’t forget to wear a mask, though!
