The official Reverse: 1999 global YouTube channel has been hacked. Yes, the page recently became the target of a hacking incident that saw unauthorized cryptocurrency-related content appear on the page. The breach forced the channel to be temporarily taken offline as developer Bluepoch works with Google to regain control and restore the account.
In a notice shared with players, the team confirmed that the channel had suffered a malicious hacking attack, which resulted in unauthorized videos and posts appearing on the platform. These posts reportedly promoted cryptocurrency scams and contained phishing links.
Hacking has been pretty common among big names, and Reverse: 1999 is the latest victim
Bluepoch stated that it immediately contacted Google once the breach was discovered, and the account has since been placed under a protective freeze while recovery procedures are underway.
The developers also issued a security advisory to the community, urging players to ignore any suspicious links or crypto-related content that may have appeared on the channel during the hacking window.
According to the notice, some of the unauthorized posts contained cryptocurrency fraud promotions and phishing links, which were definitely an attempt to trick viewers into sharing personal or financial information.
Personally, it is frustrating to see how frequently these attacks keep happening, especially in 2026, when you would expect better protection around large official channels. But sometimes, it definitely is hard to avoid such things.
Crypto scams have become a predictable playbook for hackers: take over a trusted account, flood it with fake investment streams, and try to cash in before the account owner regains control. This has been happening for many celebs and popular pages across other social media platforms as well.
The assuring part is that most cases like this tend to be temporary. Once YouTube verifies the ownership of the account, channels are usually restored within hours or a few days. As the studio works toward restoring the official channel, we will keep you updated in this space.
