Kadokawa Corporation has announced the shutdown of their 3D RPG, Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Witch’s re:surrection, scheduled for May 30, 2025. Originally unveiled in March 2023, at Anime Japan 2023, the game opened pre-registration in July 2024 and was released in August 2024 in Japan.

Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Witch’s re:surrection is a 3D RPG set on the popular novel and Re:ZERO series. In this game, you can enjoy adventures with friends and engage in unique semi-automatic command battles. The game features Subaru, Emilia, Rem, and more familiar characters.
Unfortunately, KADOKAWA announced that the game would officially shut down on May 30, 2025, stating, “We deeply apologize for announcing the end of the service,” without providing a specific reason for the closure.
You can use any remaining Magic Rainbow Crystals until the EOS or opt for a refund
Following this announcement, sales of Magic Rainbow Crystals have been discontinued. However, you can continue to use them if you already own them and also enjoy your last moments until the termination date.
The good news is that the game is offering refunds, and refund applications will open on May 30, the same day as the EOS. You will require your refund ID to verify your identity during the refund process. If you opt to request a refund, make sure not to use the paid Crystals, as only unused ones are eligible.
On the positive side, the devs have scheduled a bunch of in-game events. Plus, the game is now offering 10 character gacha tickets daily with boosted character gacha rates as a login bonus until the EoS date. Here are the events:
- Regulus Assault, which is live now, is running until April 17.
- Roy Attacks from April 17 to May 1.
- Summer Birth2024 Swimsuit Fun! from May 1 to May 15.
- And, the Holy Snow Festival from May 15 to May 29.
It’s sad to see a game based on such a popular series ending so soon, without even reaching its first anniversary. However, many fans aren’t too surprised by the EoS announcement, with many already expecting it to happen.
