Tencent Games will be developing a mobile version of Remedy Entertainment’s co-op shooter codenamed ‘Vanguard’

Something new is coming for the co-operative multiplayer space!

Vanguard is the codename for a brand new co-operative, multiplayer, mobile title to be developed by Tencent Games in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment. The most likely free-to-play game is currently in the proof-of-concept phase. Whilst Remedy will be taking the responsibility of developing the game for PC and consoles in Unreal Engine and publishing it worldwide, Tencent on the other hand will localize and publish the game in some Asian markets and even, later on, handle a mobile version of the game.

Vanguard: Remedy Entertainment’s new IP

According to Remedy, as PVE becomes the mainstay in F2P, Vanguard is being developed with the goal of providing an immersive play that melts Remedy’s unique narrative and action.

Vanguard marks Remedy’s first entry into Games as a Service business model, executed by our top tier team of free-to-play experts. We are building something new and exciting for co-operative multiplayer space, on top of Remedy’s strengths. We are excited for this long-term partnership with Tencent and with confidence can say that it is an excellent fit in supporting Vanguard’s ambitious plans. Vanguard is a global opportunity, and Tencent can support Remedy internationally, and lead the operations in Asia and the mobile markets.
