In a heartfelt announcement on LinkedIn, Ubisoft London, formerly known as Future Games of London, confirmed its official closure. The studio, best known for creating the popular Hungry Shark series, had been under threat of closure since September, and the process of consultation for all 54 positions at the developer has concluded, resulting in the studio’s closure.
Legacy of Future Games of London: From Tissue Paper Idea to Multi-Platform Franchise
Over its impressive 14-year run, Future Games of London transformed the concept of Hungry Shark from “an idea on a piece of tissue” into the multi-platform franchise it is today. With the studio’s closure, the development of all future Hungry Shark games will be continued by Ubisoft Barcelona.

The departure of key figures from Future Games of London, including co-founder Ian Harper and co-founder Chris Dawson, who later set up King of Crabs maker Robot Squid, marked significant shifts within the studio.
Despite these changes, Ubisoft London maintained its commitment to supporting sustainable and clean oceans through partnerships with charities and non-profits, contributing to the awareness and protection of marine life depicted in the Hungry Shark games. However, these did not bear fruit, and now Ubisoft London officially closed its operations.

The studio also expressed deep appreciation for the dedicated team that contributed to their success, acknowledging the impact each member had on the game. They thanked the community and everyone involved, stating that each day at Ubisoft London was an exciting and unique experience made possible by their collective effort.
