Wild Rift console launch delayed as Executive Producer confirms focus on mobile

Mobile only at the moment!

Wild Rift, the quick-paced, exciting 5v5 MOBA from Riot Games is undoubtedly one of the best titles available currently on mobile and had its eyes set on expanding to more platforms. However, the official confirmation is now out since the focus of the development team is on mobile, and the console launch of Wild Rift has been out of sight for a while.

The makers of Wild Rift will invest in the mobile version for now

David Xu, Executive Producer of League of Legends: Wild Rift via his X account PapaSmoothie shared the details regarding this news. He officially informed the community that the team is not pursuing a console launch at this time, mentioning that the decision was made to focus on investing in the mobile version rather than balancing development between mobile and consoles.

Well, this seems to be a feasible decision considering the flow of updates in Wild Rift is what the players love and the distribution of the workforce or even adding more might disrupt this. However, he also mentions that while games like Valorant and 2XKO are popular on consoles due to the genre’s existing popularity, the same demand for the MOBA genre hasn’t been seen on consoles.

Well, there were also some details shared about what’s next in the game. PapaSmoothie expressed excitement about the plans for the rest of the year, including improvements to matchmaking, queue times, and game balance. For the long term, the aim rests in fixing the most critical parts of the mobile experience: log-in, download, and general network stability.

Overall, to round it off, by making this choice, the team can concentrate on delivering new experiences and enhancing what players currently enjoy on the mobile version of the game. Well, with this, while a Wild Rift console release isn’t happening anytime soon, it’s not entirely off the table and could still happen in the distant future. Well, if that’s announced, I’ll be there to notify you!
