You can now enjoy Windows games on your tablet with Xiaomi’s WinPlay engine
This news comes with Xiaomi announcing the recruitment of Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 users for an internal beta test in China through its Community platform. According to Mr. Zhang Guoquan, Director of Xiaomi’s Mobile System Software Department, the Xiaomi WinPlay engine utilizes advanced three-layer virtualization technology. It also supports the Steam platform, enabling auto-game downloads and installations.
He stated, “From our comparative data, after the virtualization of Xiaomi WinPlay engine, the GPU performance loss of Xiaomi Tablet 6S Pro 12.4 was only 2.9%, and the translation efficiency was excellent.”

This innovation allows Xiaomi tablets to run Windows games locally with exceptional performance and stability. Moreover, this feature also supports Bluetooth connectivity for various gaming peripherals like controllers, keyboards, and mice. So if you’re wondering if Cloud has a role here, the answer is no.
It even offers Xbox controller compatibility, delivering authentic vibration feedback. I am excited about the fact that it allows up to four players to play together, ensuring an immersive and enjoyable gameplay experience.
How to use the Xiaomi WinPlay Engine to play PC Games on Android Tablet
The Xiaomi WinPlay engine is currently in its beta stage, with no immediate plans for an official launch. At present, it is only compatible with the Xiaomi Tablet 6S Pro 12.4. However, the team has provided the steps to play Windows games on your tablet:
- First, purchase a game from the Steam or GOG Platform.
- Next, copy the game directory folder to the /WinPlayMobile directory on your tablet, after installing the game on your PC.
- Launch WinPlay by opening the AI Treasure Box on your tablet.
- Now enter WinPlay, and follow the prompts to start enjoying your favorite game.
I am genuinely happy about this advancement, especially with more ecosystems emerging in the market. Since I don’t prefer Apple’s ecosystem, this innovation gives me hope for a better alternative, although it is too soon to say that. It also pushes other brands to work on their ecosystems, which is great for innovation and competition. I am excited to see what the future holds and the possibilities ahead of us.
