Infinix GT 30 Review: A Gaming beast as an affordable offering

Experience true "Gaming on Phone"!

Alrighty, finally, I’m getting to do some tech review amidst all the game reviews I’ve done, and it feels super refreshing to do this one. For today’s review, I have the Infinix GT 30, and I’ve used it extensively for a month now. Although I took a lot of time to bring up this review, I wanted to make sure I touch on the necessary aspects that I can.

Design and Handling come across as the best in the segment

Let’s start with the design. This phone really surprised me. It’s got this cyber-futuristic look with its design lines, lighting, and a glossy glass back panel that honestly feels like a toned-down Asus ROG phone. The phone is lightweight, and the weight distribution makes it comfortable to hold even for long gaming sessions.

The feel while having this phone is something that made me not use the cover. Surely it fits right into my hands, and that’s what I like as well. The edges are curved and give you an Apple-ish look, but slimmer in general, so it fits your hand well.

Display sees some bonuses with Audio output being excellent

The AMOLED panel on this device doesn’t disappoint and manages to capture some cool colours. Even outdoors, I didn’t feel the brightness to be an issue. The touch response is excellent too, with smooth and consistent results.

Scrolling feels fast and fluid, and the colour reproduction is genuinely good for its price. The stereo speakers tuned by JBL are another pleasant surprise. It sounds way better than you’d expect from a phone in this range.

Performance and Gaming experience were pleasant

Okay, here comes the main reason I tested this phone: Gaming! Performance-wise, the phone feels snappy and responsive. App switching is smooth, and I didn’t face any stutter or lag during regular use. However, Gaming is where it truly shines. It handles popular titles like PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile at high FPS and settings for longer durations.

But the one I played extensively is Delta Force, of course, this is the themed edition, and would it be right to test it without this game? I went for the sweet spot I like to play with, the 90 FPS setting, and I must say I was really impressed by how this device performed.

It comes with a capable Mediatek Dimensity 7400 processor, so there were not many doubts on that. I played it on every graphic setting, and I felt it performed very consistently. I noticed how well it handled big open areas without any lag or frame skips, which is amazing for a phone in this range.

The GT triggers were super handy here, especially during long fights, and definitely make the gameplay more comfortable. Once you get used to them, going back to normal on-screen controls feels odd. On another positive side, it handles heat very well while charging, so you never feel like it’s overheating or uncomfortable to hold, so you can play it while being connected to power.

Battery life has been another highlight for me. It easily lasts a full day of mixed use, and even when I pushed it with long gaming sessions and social media scrolling, I still had some charge left by the evening, another bonus point for the GT 30.

The camera is decent, while the phone does have some downsides

The camera setup does a decent job overall. In good lighting, the shots come out detailed and natural-looking. The colours pop nicely without feeling artificial, though the highlights can sometimes be a bit bright, and here’s why I’m not a fan since my primary device clicks a lot better photos.

For me, this isn’t a phone you buy for photography, but it’s perfectly fine for regular use. The front camera works well for selfies and video calls, and videos come out sharp enough for daily content use.

The thing that slightly bugged me was the charging time. It takes around an hour and a half to go from zero to full, which isn’t terrible but could have been quicker considering how well it performs elsewhere, and it is kind of a dud for a gaming phone.

In addition, call volume is a bit low, especially in noisy areas. I also faced a few random call drops, which I hope can be fixed with future updates. Apart from these, everything else runs smoothly, and the software feels more refined than older Infinix phones.

Final Verdict

A definite buy if you are looking for something on a budget, and it does look more premium for what you spend on it. It’s clear that Infinix designed this one keeping gaming in mind, but it still works great as an everyday phone.

Play

For gaming alone, it handles without breaking a sweat, and even after longer sessions, the phone stays fairly cool. For the downsides, there can be several improvements. The majority of them can be fixed by software updates. For a phone that starts from the range of $205 (INR 18,000) this seems to be a massive deal for someone looking for a gaming device.
